I came home tonight to find that I cannot get into my room, and my roommate is not answering the door. With his recently acquired girlfriend, I suppose that's no surprise, but why did it hafta happen when I've been hit with homework overload? Where the hell am I supposed to stay? Oh well...if I'm lucky, I'll get that 700 word essay done tonight, so tomorrow I can bust my butt doing actual projects...jeez, this weekend sucks. But I won't let it get me down! And if I get ANY form of message asking if I'm "really ok", I am going to implode.

Cant you go to an RA or someone who can let you in your room? Dont you have a key?

Zeke
Jan 25th, 2003, 11:37:17 PM
I have a key. I tried unlocking the door. The lock in the doorknob is usually the only one, but judging by the locked deadbolt he doesn't want people barging in...I'm in someone else's room...maybe they'll let me stay here.

I hope so. I know you'll be okay ( a little pissed off, maybe, lol) I just want to make sure you have a place to stay the night :)

Pah, at least I can write that essay...if the distraction of televisions and such can be ignored. Though I really wanted to finish my color theory tonight. Oh well...I'll just find out what's up tomorrow.

When I was in college, I simply told any dorm roommate of mine that I didn't care if he wanted to have a girl over, but he had to give me ample notice and I had a right to refusal if I decided that I was overloaded with work. In turn, I abided by the same rule when the situation was reversed. It worked well.

I suggest you have a talk with him, and lay down some ground rules before things get out of hand.

plah...*kills roommate* still rude to lock you out the room all night.....

Well, one can always decided to be a jerk and go kick the door incessantly until someone answers...

Dae Jinn
Jan 25th, 2003, 11:55:00 PM
Yeah, that would be my plan....or I would do something as bad back, but I'm petty. :p

Figgy is right though, you have to set some rules, and not let him have his way all the time, Zekey.

Not a bad idea Figrin. To say I had thought of it before would be something of an untruth; being something of a slacker (and considering until just now, I've had no problems with the guy) I never bothered to do such a thing. Letting him have his way? Do YOU wanna walk in on two people dirtying the sheets? Didn't think so.

Sorreessa Tarrineezi
Jan 26th, 2003, 12:01:04 AM
still he has no right to just lock you out....I would be kicking the door if it were me.....

Zeke
Jan 26th, 2003, 12:03:38 AM
Yeah, but ya gotta understand. I'm a nice guy. Kicking the door end would be rude. So instead, I'll spend the night in here, on the floor. I'll wake up, get breakfast/lunch, go buy my art supplies...by then it'll be at least 12, and I should be able to get in.

Jan 26th, 2003, 12:03:41 AM
I'm sorry, but I would be pissed. If I could get the door open, I would go in and bitch him and her out. If I were you, I'd be doing it tomorrow :p

still nice or not hun, he has no right to just lock you out of the room without telling you....me I would be kicking a tune with the door by now.....

Zeke

I'll be fine. The two people I'm staying with are cool, and we have plenty in common. No different from spending the night at a friend's house. :)

My freshman year, my roommate was foolish enough to not lock the door one afternoon, figuring that I would be back late because of classes. Low and behold, he didn't tell me his plans to have his girlfriend over, and I had a particularly heavy set of books to carry that day, so I decided to make a quick run back to the dorm room in between classes. Needless to say, I walked in without a second thought and... well... 'nough said.

He and his girlfriend were far more embarassed than I was. He learned to a) lock the door, and b) tell me when he made "plans."

Fortunately, we kind of laughed it off later...

Even more fortunately, so did his girlfriend...

Zeke, I know you are nice. I know you are polite and a sweetie. But, you can't let people do things like this to you :\ It's not fair to you, having to sleep on the floor in someone elses room, when you should be in your own room. If you don't do something about this, even if it's just setting some rules as Figgy said, he'll walk all over you.

Sorreessa Tarrineezi
Jan 26th, 2003, 12:12:08 AM
ah, hmm...*sighs* hehe, you're too nice to the roomie, I would never just wait it out......by now I would be "opps, I broke the padlock, how'd that happen?'

Figrin D'an
Jan 26th, 2003, 12:13:05 AM
Exactly...

You can't let a precident be set by not taking action related to this. If you do nothing, he'll assume it's not an issue, and it'll continue to happen.

It's fine to "grin and bear it" once, but make sure you bring it up with him tomorrow.

Zeke
Jan 26th, 2003, 12:16:20 AM
It's just once. I'll talk to him about it, so quit worryin'.

Sorreessa Tarrineezi
Jan 26th, 2003, 12:31:15 AM
meh, door would be down by now if it were me, well if I'm strong enough, never tried....*shrugs*

I'm back in my room! ::shrieks with joy:: Now if my roommate would get back in here so I could prevent this, we'd be in high cotton.

:lol Yeah now days, people would steal the sock.

I really hope I don't have to have a roomate anytime soon.. unless it's a girl, then maybe she'll go over to his place :)

LoL roomie Soph year forgot to mention his gf would be staying the night one night and then forgot the whole system of taking the message board off the door so I knew to stay down the hall.

Needless to say I cam in three sheets to the wind while they were playing under the sheets. I passed out half naked in my bed and woke up in the morning to see his gf putting her pants on, with the most embarrassed look on her face. It was a priceless moment.

I don't think this'll be a thing anymore. I opened the conversation the next day with "So, didja have fun?" Judging by the reaction, I don't think I need to worry...

My freshman year of college my mom walked in on me and my girlfriend at the time.

Ahh family bonding at its most disturbing...

Needless to say this is not a topic of discussion at family reunions.

I've been caught by my ex girlfriend's parents with her on their living room sofa.
