Could someone tell me a little bit about how the graphics on a laptop work differently to a normal PC. I know some laptops use the system memory, ive seen some that have integrated graphics and some with graphics cards. Whats the best one to try and go for and why?

Any help would be great, thanks.

Either a Radeon 9000 mobile or a Geforce 4 460. Make sure both have external memory.

They don't work differently, they just use different chipsets. The actual displays (screens) work differently. Most monitors attached to a desktop use a cathode ray tube, like whats in a TV. Laptops use thin film screens.

Which do you think is best...

1. 64Mb integrated graphics
2. ATi Radeon Mobility 16Mb
3. ATI 3D RAGE Mobility-M1 8Mb

These are the ones ive seen on laptops within my price range and as you can see they all vary a fair bit.

Radeon Mobility is the best of those.

Ok, thanks Morg. I'll keep my eye out for any others I can see.
