Twins Have Different Fathers

ZAGREB, Croatia- A Croatian woman who slept with two men at the same time has given birth to twins with two different fathers.

The 23-year-old student, who has been named only as M.B, gave birth to non-identical twins in Zagreb seven months ago. However, she has revealed that DNA testing has shown the children have different fathers.

She told daily Jutarnji List: "I was shocked at getting pregnant and even more surprised when doctors told me that my two sons had different fathers."

Doctors have said twins being born to different fathers is extremely rare.

Um...neat or wtf?

How about both. twins from different dad, that's interesting. The fact that she slept with two men at the same time, that's the WTF. Think the guys would have more respect for themselves than that.

That'll be a bet your likely to win. While with humans (mainly due to mating habits) it's would be exeedingly rare, with animals like cats or dogs, it isn't. I dont 100% remember, but I can only remember a few animals types that produce identical twins.

Again, this is very vague, but from what I can remeber from reading, a male human's semen will try to set up some sort of barrier or poision, so that other semen / sperm can not compete. Given also that women tend to ovulate once per cycle, it would only be a very specific accidental circumstanc that would lead to this occuring in a human.

Well Identical twins come from a spliting egg. Fraternal twins come from two different eggs. Chances are two different eggs were fertilized here.........

Also...its not that other guys semen is poisonous to another's, its that the pH in the vagina and further up is deadly to sperm. Sperm exist in a more alkaline environment than the vagina, which is more acidic. This ensures that only the strongest make it across the finish line.

*gives Charley the cigar* :)

Also, it would have to be two seperate eggs fertilized for the babies to have to have different fathers. Otherwise the twins would be identical. No way around that. Trust me, I read everything I could get my hands on once I had my girls!

Also, many doctors now believe that all women (those with 'normal' cycles) release two eggs at once and that most of the time both eggs are fertilized but that only twin makes it to maturity. They (doctors) also seem to think that the dead twin is absorbed by the other....hence no sign of the other twin and that the absorbtion is done very early in the first trimester.

This might explain why some people feel that a part of them is missing from birth. Could it also have a bearing on multiple personalities? <....think about that

LOL!!!

It's just cool...it's new and interesting, there are a lot of girls that sleep with more than one man, this one was just unlucky enough to "get caught" in a way...nothing wrong with it.... :rolleyes

Quite a biological rarity, but not completely unheard of...

[science geek]
Highly doubtful... at that stage of fetal development, neural pathways aren't sufficiently established for any semblance of a personality to exist. [/science geek]
