View Full Version : The Hammer of Light (open challenge to a Dark Sider)

The broad shouldered man sits outside the mining supply company on Coruscant. In his armored form, he simply cannot wield a lightsaber. The armor slows him, but that is not the main issue. Simply put, he's too strong to not crush the weapon. Within minutes of trying to use the weapon, his hands tear off controls. Before long, the entire outer casing is destroyed, and the inner circuitry soon follows.

One of the Jedi at the Order made a suggestion, though. It seems that the hammers used in mining had a strong magnetic field generator, like a lightsaber. This allows the hammer to be used by droids who would destroy a normal hammer in very little time. The shielding should prevent him from destroying the weapon in his own hands.

He hefts the well-balanced hammer, and begins practicing a bit. The weight feels good in his hands, and he moves it with ease. Satisfied with his new weapon, he begins to walk back toward his quarters. As he passes the alley nearby, he hears a commotion. He turns to find a man being savagely attacked. He rushes forward.

"Hey! What are you doing? Leave that man alone!"

It was a quiet night, at least by Coruscant standards. The noise from the upper class cities above could actually be ignored to a degree, if one werent paying attention. This was a far cry from the norm on this planet.

Silus had made an unexpected trip back. The Quantum project was coming along by leaps and bounds, though the laboratories on Balmorra were in short supply of a few base ores needed for fusion. Due his frequent trips in the past, and the fact that the New Republic now had control of the planet, Silus was just the imperial for the job. Now he walked through an old alleyway, a shortcut to the nearby mining facility. It was straight forward. Walk in, make a few purchases, and go home. Until lady luck decided to play a few games.

Silus had seen the man following him. A slim guy, dirty, tattered clothes. Your textbook vagrant. This one had more aspirations than most though. Silus was halfway through the alley when the arm came over his shoulder, and the knife was held to his throat...

"I want everything, money, jewelry, and your shoes...."

"You've got two seconds to let go and forget you ever met me"

"Im not playing"

The knife was pressed into Silus' throat a bit more. It was dull, and didnt break the skin, but it made its point...

"Dont make me....AHH! Son of a....."

Before the man could react, Silus had grabbed his arm and yanked it forward, bringing the blade away from his neck. In the same motion, Silus' head shot backwards, connecting with the man's nose...

The thief staggered back and wiped the blood from his nose, and quickly came at Silus with a wide slash. Silus sidestepped slightly and hooked the man's arm with his, then jerked upwards, snapping the thief's elbow...

The thief's knees buckled slighty as he yelled out in pain, though his current suffering was short lived, as Silus' left hand came down on the man's temple. The thief fell to his knees, just in time to catch a booted foot across the jaw. As the man fell down, someone else came into the fray...

"Hey! What are you doing? Leave that man alone!"

A man, a rather large one at that, was now headed in his direction. Silus' eyes narrowed in aggravation as he calmly stepped away from the thief...

"This one isnt your concern, go find somewhere else to play hero...."

Draken wasn't sure why the men were in the fight, but it was obvious that the felled man had long since stopped fighting. This was not right. Both of these men should be taken to the local authorities and have everything straightened out there.

"I'll have to ask you both to come with me."

He looks to Silus.

"This fight is over, and has gone long past self-defense. You have perpitrated an act of assault, and therefore must surrender yourself to the local authorities."

He moves his gaze to the fallen man.

"And you, sir, should come as well. I don't know what part you had in this, but you are either guilty of starting a fight, or should lodge a complaint against this man for attacking you. Come along, the both of you. There is no reason this could come to a physical confrontation."

Silus would have laughed at this, had it not been for the ill mood that the attempted robbery had put him in.

"Assault? I barely touched him..."

Silus glanced down at the thief, who groaned slightly. He then returned his gaze back to the man who was attempting to stop him...

"Go ahead, take him to jail. Ive got more important things to attend to..."

A slight grin tugged at Silus' lips as he glared at the man standing a few meters away from him.

"No, sir, I don't believe you do. We will all go to the authorities now. I would rather not use force, but I will do so if you do not comply."

Draken hits the switch on his hammer, and with a hum, the weapon is covered with its magnetic field. He'd rather not use it, but he must be ready, just in case.

"Oh I believe I do, and I also believe that if you dont put that oversized mallet down, you'll wind up having it shoved somewhere that you never thought possible..."

"You broke my fracking nose!!"

Silus glanced down to see the thief on his knees, cradling his hands underneath his nose, seemingly trying to stop the bleeding. Silus' face wrinkled slightly in anger and he unleashed another kick to the side of the thief's head, knocking him out completely...

Draken sees the man kick the thief out of what appears to be sheer spite. Obviously, some force will be required. He activates his inherent armor, as is typical of his race. A shimmering metallic-looking coating starts at his head and quickly flows to his feet, sheathing him in a very durable skin. He bellows a yell as he rushes the man, lowering his shoulder for the attack.

As Silus kicked that thief down, the other man rushed at him with a shoulder block. The attack was advertised enough in itself, though the bellow he unleashed on the way ensured that Silus would see it coming. The second or two before the attack would connect, Silus sidestepped and brought his foot up, locking it in front of the man's ankle. As he went to bring the foot forward for another step, Silus' foot went in the other direction, causing him to fall forward and land with a thud...

"You dont listen very well do you..."

Silus slowly paced around the man, keeping a few meters in between them. As he walked, he calmly removed a lightsaber from behind his back and continued, letting it stay deactivated, for now...

"Like I said before, you have no reason to be here. I'd suggest you leave.....now."

He falls face first the ground, skidding along slightly on his metallic body. He rolls to a crouch, facing the man who tripped him. He raises his hammer, holding it sideways in both hands, and points his fists at the man. Concentrating, he releases a Force Blast. It is basically a Force Push compressed into a single, rapid burst. The attack, though not very damaging, is used to buy time. He rushes forward and grabs the fallen man, taking him to the other side of the alley. He lays the man down gently, hoping to remove him from the danger of the fighting area.

He turns and moves back toward the center of the alley way, trying to get a fix on his opponent.

Silus stumbled back and hit the ground as Draken hits him with the force. He looks back up to see Draken carrying the thief to the other end of the alley. Silus watched on, fairly amused at what he was seeing. This man though, he didnt know the whole situation. He made an assumption. Silus hated these. The illusion was already being crafted as Draken set the thief down. It was dark enough, Silus wouldnt have to focus on as much detail. As Draken made his way back, he heard voices behind him...

"What the frell!!"

"Hey you! Stop right there!"

Behind him, Draken would see two Coruscant police offers coming toward him with blasters drawn. In front of him, Silus grinned slightly and put the disengaged saber away, as he "drug" himself to his feet.

"HELP HELP! THIS MAN IS TRYING TO KILL ME!"

This would be fun...

Draken breathes a sigh of relief as the officers appear. Hopefully, they could take care of the situation now. However, the man's comment takes him by suprise. What form of deceit was this man capable of? He stares at the man for a moment, then returns his gaze to the officers.

"Officers, my name is Draken Chakara, Padawan in the Greater Jedi Order, and I assure you that this man is the culprit. As you can see behind you, there is the man he assaulted on the ground behind you. As well, you'll notice that the man who claims I assaulted HIM is uninjured. Now, if you'll just come this way..."

As he says this, he reaches out to put his hand on the officer's shoulder. His hand, however, touches nothing but air. He swings back, peering intently at the two men, completely ignoring his opponent.

"What trickery is this?"

Silus Xilarian
Jan 13th, 2003, 05:54:50 PM
Much to Silus' chagrin, Draken figured out the illusion way too quickly. Silus started to remove his saber as he advanced on Draken, who had his back turned still. A thought crossed his mind before he drew his weapon. As he came up on Draken, his right hand balled into a fist. Reaching out with his left hand, Silus grabs Draken by the left shoulder and spins him around towards Silus' right side. As Draken twirled around, Silus swung, connecting a hard right fist to the side of Draken's head, letting the dursteel bone structure in his hand deal with whatever this guy was made of.

The punch landed solidly, "clanking" upon impact....

Just as it dawns on Draken that he was fighting a man capable of illusion, a hand roughly turns him around. Before he has a chance to react, a heavy right hook hits him square on the jaw. The blow rocks him sideways, and the force is anything but pleasant. However, his armor holds for now, and little damage is done. He rolls back into his opponent quickly. By reaching for him, the man was too close to get away.

Holding his warhammer in his left, he wraps up the man in a massive bearhug. He picks him up off the ground a bit and immediately runs full tilt, heading for the nearest wall. He rushes headlong into it, not stopping. His own arms hit first, lessening the impact on Silus. However, his momentum slams Silus between the wall and his own body.

Jan 14th, 2003, 10:34:44 PM
The punch was perfect, timed just right with Draken's momentum turning towards it. More than a few people had to make a trip to a medbay after taking a shot like that. Needless to say, Silus was in utter shock when Draken turned back around on him. Before it even registered in Silus' head that his right hand had failed him, Draken had already hefted him up and took off running. He knew where they were headed too....

Silus shut his eyes right before impact. The pitch black in his vision was invaded by a sharp light as he hit, obviously the impact had jarred his head. He felt it too. The hit caused a sickening crunch throughout his body. As Draken backed up, Silus' whole body was limp for a moment. He still felt like a pancake. He was brought back to conscience as he felt Draken squeeze harder, so tight that he couldnt breath. He opened his eyes. Everything was a blur. His eyes rolled about in their sockets slightly. Despite his outward appearance, he was thinking. Contrary to his normal mindframe, he wasnt devising an elaborate plan of attack, or the most strategic way for him to attack. One word crossed his mind.

Escape...

He couldnt throw another punch, and honestly, it would probably worsen his situation. One other option left. Silus shifted his body as much as possible as his arm slid behind his back. He felt the saber as his hand slid down it. His thumb unclipped it and he shifted his arm slightly again. With a sharp snap his, the red blade sprang forward.

Slowly, Silus turned his wrist letting the crimson blade burn against Draken's side...

Draken keeps squeezing, attempting to end this fight without doing too much damage to the man. If he could knock him out, he could then transport him to the local authorities with ease.

He hears the snap-hiss, and feels the blade lay against his armored skin. For the first half-second or so, he feels nothing, his armor holding up. But the intense heat of the plasma blade gets through quickly, searing into the flesh underneath. He yells in pain, quickly releasing his opponent. He backs up a few steps, hand to his wounded side. His armor may be able to hold off a quick strike from a saber, but any more than that, and the burn was terrible. He crouches down, hammer now in both hands. The burn on his side flashes with pain with each movement. All he can do now is try to calm himself and get through it.

Silus rolled away from Draken as he was dropped. Quickly as he could, he drug himself to his feet. He shook his head for a moment, still dizzy from lack of oxygen. He kept away from Draken this time...

"Oh come on! Is that all you can do!?"

That cut did nearly nothing....what the frell is this guy made of?!

"I told you before to leave. Did you listen? Noooooo. That cut hurts pretty bad doesnt it!?"

Hes too strong to get in close, that last one hurt.....

"And if you try that again, I'll stop going easy on you!"

Silus taunted his larger opponent, in hopes of maybe aggrivating him, make him mess up. Anything. There had to be a chink in the armor. Even if there wasnt, Silus needed the time to catch his breath....

Draken stays calm, but this is not terribly difficult. He has always been a patient man. But he moves in more warily this time. He leads in with his warhammer, hoping to avoid being burned again. He begins swinging his hammer in arcs, keeping it moving before him. Silus' only chance will be to dodge the blows, or perhaps parry. A warhammer in swing, especially when wielded by a man Draken's size, is almost impossible to stop with a saber. He moves in, hammer never staying still.

Silus Xilarian
Jan 18th, 2003, 09:55:40 PM
Silus kept his eyes set on Draken, watching every move of the man's hammer with great interest. One solid hit from that thing, and the fight was over. The man wasnt blinding fast however, so Silus backed away and circled somewhat, staying just out of the man's range.

One swing came close, and Silus dodged backward and brought his saber around, connecting solidly with the side of it. The saber struck the hammer but did no damage, confirming Silus' suspitions.

For now, Silus would dodge and weave. Draken could swing the hammer all he wanted, but Silus wouldnt move in unless unless given the perfect opportunity. If that opportunity didnt arrive, then the big man would eventually either get tired, or get bored and leave. Either case, Silus wasnt having his head smashed in, which was a good thing...

After a short amount of time, Draken realizes that his opponent is much faster than him. Straight forward attacking won't work. So, he begins methodically moving in on him, attempting to corral him. As soon as he is facing a wall, he reaches out with one hand, unleashing a Force Blast. As soon as he sends the attack, he rushes forward, hammer raised to strike.

Silus Xilarian
Jan 31st, 2003, 11:27:01 AM
The force blast knocks back into the wall. He was slightly expecting it this time, so he instinctively braced himself, so the hit wasnt enough to do damage. It did however, distract him enough for Draken to move in on him. Instead of dodging left or right, where a second attack would still be available, Silus rebounded off the wall towards Draken. The Jedi already had his hammer hefted up to swing, this leaving an open shot to his midsection. Silus turned as he struck, the saber burning at the thick armor of Draken. When he completed the turn, Silus was facing toward Draken and backing up. It was doubtful the strike was enough to penetrate the man's armor.....

The strike is fortunately rather brief. The saber burns through his armor slightly, but not much. The movement barely fazes him, his armor still holding. Because the man has been backing up continually, he is very near the wall currently. Draken flings the hammer as quickly as possible, aiming for the wall a couple of feet above Silus' head. Once more, he fires a Force Blast, this time at Silus' feet. With luck, the disruption will make him unable to dodge the falling debris. But this fight will have to end soon. He is tiring, and he is unsure how many more blows his armor can withstand.

The force blast manages to knock Silus down. Before he can even attempt to jump back up, the hammer comes down, connecting solidly with his shoulder, followed by a small mass of falling debri from the wall. He lets out a slight groan as he looks up and sees Draken coming towards him. He rolls over onto his back and sits up. He kicks the hammer away with his left foot, then pushes himself back with his right foot. If he jumped up, the Jedi would be able to grab him, and his saber had been knocked out of his hand. While he still had one saber left, he'd rather regain his other, to avoid it getting lost or destroyed. So with both feet pushing back, he starts sliding himself away, hopefully he'll get enough space to get up, while he starts constructing a back up plan, just in case he cant.

Feb 4th, 2003, 07:23:07 PM
Draken sees his hammer slide away and ignores it for the moment. He finally has a chance to get hold of the man and hopefully take him down. He dives onto the man, using his superior size to shove the man to the ground. He won't be able to actually grapple with the man, as he is still in posession of one saber. Given a few seconds, he'll be able to burn through Draken's armor. Instead, he pins the man to the ground, placing two fists on the man's chest. One is on his upper chest, near the heart area, and the other is on his stomach. Summoning what's left of his Force power, he fires a Force Blast out of each hand, point blank. His arms piston back with the pressure of the blow.

He rolls off of the disoriented man, slowly regaining his feet, and then his hammer. He rests his hands on his knees, trying to regain his breath. He calls out to the fallen man.

"You ok over there? I'm not trying to hurt you, but you must be brought to justice..."

Silus Xilarian
Feb 9th, 2003, 08:24:58 PM
"AGH!-OOOOF!!"

Silus body folded with the shot as much as it could, as his lower half shot upward and immediately slumped back to the ground. As his head fell over to the side, he could see his lightsaber. Out of reach, no chance of retrieval right now. He started to make an attempt to pull himself up, but fell back to the ground with a thud as his eyes rolled back into his head..

Oh Frell that hurt. Stay still, let him come...

Feb 10th, 2003, 05:58:19 PM
A look of concern comes across the large man's face as he sees the fallen Dark Sider. Perhaps that last shot was a bit of overkill. He wanders over to the man warily, just in case, but he is far more concerned with the man's welfare. He leans over him to check.

"Hey... you hurt?"

Silus Xilarian
Feb 18th, 2003, 04:56:39 PM
An almost inaudible "ugh" was the only answer Draken recieved to his question. Silus laid there, completely still, save for a slight twitching in his right hand.

Just keep still, dont try to fight him off, dont get hit with one of those again. Let him walk away.

His mind was active, his plan going back and forth. He even debated with himself, two voices in his mind that disagreed with each other.

Attack now, kick him off of you. He cant make a very good inside attack with his hammer. You're quicker than he is. Hurt him. He has no right to attack you in the first place. He's a Jedi, Jedi are hypocrits. You can kill him. Do it now.

Back and forth, Silus' mind battled itself. The two sides quickly met in the middle, and the decision was made.

Lay still a little longer....

Draken Chakara
Feb 18th, 2003, 05:22:43 PM
He bends closer over the man, peering at him closely. He may be hurt. Well, in that case, he'd better take him to the hospital, THEN to the authorities.

"Alright buddy, lets go..."

Passing his hammer to his off hand, he hoists the man up with his left arm, draping him over his shoulder. He does not search the man for weapons, intent on getting him some help instead.

Silus Xilarian
Feb 18th, 2003, 05:42:01 PM
With a slow, cautious motion, Silus slid his arm behind his back. His top half was behind Draken's head, making this possible. Silus stayed still for a few moments after his hand touched his second saber. They were almost to the far end of the alley when Silus made his move. Draken felt Silus' body jerk into motion, as the Dark Jedi drew his saber and ignited it, bringing it down quickly on Draken's other shoulder...

Draken Chakara
Feb 19th, 2003, 06:46:32 PM
"AAAAAHHH!"

Draken flings the man off his shoulder, grasping his right shoulder with his free hand. His armor is weakening; the saber burned through more quickly this time. The searing pain makes his right arm almost useless. Taking his hammer back into his left, he rushes his opponent, hoping to catch him off guard with a quick attack. Otherwise, if he takes a couple more hits, his armor will fail entirely and this fight will likely end quickly.

Silus Xilarian
Feb 19th, 2003, 06:56:05 PM
The rush was sudden, but Silus' reflexes were ample enough, as he quickly sidestepped the swinging hammer, barely avoiding it. The hammer hit the ground with a loud crack, the duracrete ground where it hit looked almost like broken glass.

As Silus had sidestepped, he pivoted quickly and stepped back, making two quick strikes against Draken's back as he backstepped away, taking him back out of the larger man's range....

Draken Chakara
Feb 20th, 2003, 07:48:16 PM
The saber strikes burn through almost immediately. The strikes combined with the exertion from the fight are really getting to him. He has to take this guy down now, or he may not be able to at all. Turning quickly, he aims his throw directly at the man's chest.

"Catch!"

He flings his hammer, end over end, hoping to catch the man full on.

Silus Xilarian
Feb 20th, 2003, 07:56:19 PM
Silus ducked and turned, narrowly dodging the hefty weapon. Had Draken not shouted catch, then the hammer would have most likely hit, and that would mean the fight would be over, and Silus would be waking up with a serious headache....IF he woke up at all.

As the hammer flew over his head, he immediately stood and turned to see Draken expectedly coming at him. As he turned though, in his left hand appeared a high powered slugthrower, which had been drawn from his shoulder holster.

His saber disengaged as it was released from his right hand, which had come up to help steady the firearm. With two loud bangs, Silus fired two shots, both aimed for Draken's chest.

Draken Chakara
Feb 20th, 2003, 08:25:37 PM
Both shots' aim is true, slamming into his chest one after the other. The first shot stops him cold. His armor holds, barely, but the concussive force will leave a large bruise for sure. The second, however, is the final straw. His armor gives way just as the slug lands. The last vestigages of the armor keep in from penetrating, but two ribs are cracked in the process. He falls to one knee, clutching the broken ribs. Breathing is now painful. Short of a miracle, all he can hope for is a retreat.

Silus Xilarian
Feb 20th, 2003, 09:25:43 PM
With a motion of his hand, Silus' saber rises from the ground to his hand. The red blade is reignited in his right hand, as he methodically starts toward Draken. He takes his time. Draken is unarmed, and it appears that whatever armoring he had is gone. He stops a few feet away from Draken with a slight smirk on his face.

"You had no right to stick your nose in my business. You know this, right?"

Draken Chakara
Feb 20th, 2003, 11:16:33 PM
Draken looks up, still holding his chest. He speaks with difficulty, pain shooting through his chest with each breath.

"You... were assaulting... that man. I had... to stop you..."
