The prevailing philosophy we should be concerned with is Logic, closely followed by disciplne and restraint. Respect and compassion are also greatly important, as is wisdom and truth.

When these are focused on, you build proper character, and other things in the Jedi code come naturally. Focus on fighting and physical warfare should be last on the mind, for they can easily twist the mind. Having a good ground of the above mentioned make it easier to know when to fight. That would save a lot of trouble and heartache.
