Well Attack of the Clones is at least simple and to the point but that title just doesn't make any sense.

That is pretty bad.

Attack of the Clones is a great title, I like it. So is Matrix Reloaded, I think that sounds great. I've always liked that title.

Attack of the Clones is somewhat cheesy, but it's a good, and fitting title....whereas this Fast & Furious title? Wow that hurts.

"Dumb and Dumberer"

I love that title! Yes, it is INCREDIBLY stupid, but I think that is part of the point ;)

Attack of the Clones is only "cheesy" in the sense that there are 50 other movies named "Attack of..." and THEY were cheesy, but that just means that Attack of the Clones brings some respectability to the name, haha.

Has anyone seen any of those? Like Attack of the 50 Foot Tall Women or whatever? Hehe, I want to see some of those old monster movies and whatnot, that's a major thing I want to get to studying a bit.

Are you sure about that? ;)

Albeit, it is fun to laugh at ... especially after you've consumed alcohol. Sober... it's not nearly as entertaining.

Jinn, that's hilarious you mention that because I am taking a ten-week class (one term) that is ENTIRELY about the study of Romero's Night of the Living Dead trilogy. We just watched the original '68 film, we have four books on film horror we are reading, and we'll watch the other 3 films in class too (including the remake, which I have seen of course before). This class really rocks. It should be great fun. :)

Dawn has that, Day is the underground army base :)

Sounds sweet, Jon, I've seen all of them except the original, like a million times.

I have really awesome classes for the most part this term, Fett, but yeah I know how it is to have totally lame courses too.

This term only exists so that next term can suck even harder. I mean, I intentionally delayed the bad classes until spring because it's SO COLD here that i cannot be cold and miserable with classes too, or I just wouldn't bother walking to them ;)

I have this class about horror movies, English 220, fulfills a Bacc. Core requirement for "Difference, Power, and Discrimination" (don't ask me what the heck this has anything to do with that). Then my other class, Intro to Film Studies, or English 110, is with Jon Lewis again, the guy who taught my Film Comedy class last term. He's great. We're using a book I highly recommend, really a great resource, it's about 500 pages long, big pages, but it's like a coffee table book. I mean it is full of pictures and very high quality, doesn't look like a text book. It is just so informative and it is wide-ranging too. I think it's called "Film: An International History of the Medium." This class covers basically Western Cinema, which is too bad in some ways because I'm a huge fan of course of Asian and Eastern cinema, much more so than European cinema, but that's ok because I know more about Asian cinema anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if I knew more about it than Lewis because he told us that he just doesn't know much about it and can't teach it, but that he's tried to get a professor who knows about it. Budget restrictions means that he has not yet been able to do that. We cover French New Wave cinema, some German cinema, Soviet Union cinema, a few British things I think, and a few classic U.S. movies.

I also have two philosophy classes, Intro to Philosophy and Ethics, both of which are incredibly easy. I love philosophy but I cannot help being bored by these classes because they seem a little too basic and rudimentary to me. My friends and I have philosophical discussions all of the time and these issues are just not original to me. I mean, determinism, whatever, I've discussed this before years ago, but it is interesting to debate it again. The main problem I have is talking about really, really obvious stuff for way too long, like the idea of there being a very important difference between aesthetic judgments and ethical judgments. I mean, most people agree that it's a lot more serious if you think lying is ok and I do not think it's ok than if you think The Piano Teacher is a great movie and I think it's trash. That is not a value judgment that, in the large scheme of things, makes much difference. But if you think it's ok to lie about everything, that could affect all of society, not just you. So I find myself a bit bored in these classes sometimes, but still, I should give credit where it's due, the classes are nonetheless far better than most and still interesting.

I also have a writing for media class that is incredibly easy, my easiest class, and it has NO required books, it's just.. wow. Shockingly simple.

Yet somehow I have 18 credits. I'm taking the maximum number allowed by the university before you have to pay additional tuition, but I only have class two days a week and I just have minimal work. It's really amazing :)

There's a humanities course like that at my school, to study Star Wars. I'll get into it someday.

Oh my god, I want to take that so bad. haha.

At times I am tempted to go to another easy college with a film studies program, like this Montana university or something that has a film studies major, but not necessarily a film production major. Then again, do I really want to spend a ton more money for a few good classes and have to spend a bunch on airfare, leave my friends and family again, not be able to see the movies in theaters that I want because I'll be in the middle of nowhere, etc? No. So unfortunately I'm stuck with OSU, but that's ok.

Jon Lewis started our film program here. He's a really cool guy. I'm interested in reading a few of his books here, for instance, his one on film censorship that just came out. That would be a really interesting topic to me, at least. Plus I'm curious to see how he writes. He's funny, informative, and very serious about film. I learn an amazing amount from each lecture, even.

Unfortunately he is basically the only teacher for film studies here. That one lady doing the film horror class is different, but umm... I think he pretty much does all of the film classes except that. He has a few more I want to take, notably a film noir class that is in the upper division, listed as a "writing intensive course (WIC)," but that would be great! I love film noir, I would love to know more. Then there is the standard class offered every fall, which I missed this time, New American Cinema. I know more about that than any other film subject. I don't want to say I'm an expert, because I consider myself an expert on nothing so far in film, just learning at everything, but I know a great deal about that compared to these other classes, so for me, that'd be the least useful. Still, I already bought the book and plan to take the class next fall because I am sure I will still learn a great deal and it's a film class! For credit! :)

"Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death"

I didn't know the apocalypse had already passed us by.....
