Bit uninspired by that list to be honest. Not a mention of Star Wars, Minority Report, Road to Perdition, Robin Williams plus others I cant think of off the top of my head right now.

I read that Chicago got a lot of nods as well, I guess that guarentees it a nod at the Oscars. Also I think the others right now will be Gangs of NY, About Schmidt, The Hours, and either Adaptaion, The Pianist, the Two Towers or MYBFGW. Right now I think TTT will not get the other nod because the academy doesn't like to nominate sequels.

What a dumb category! What is this, the "Every LOTR films a winner!" awards??? Next year, I DEMAND they have an award for "Best Portrayal of a Blind Superhero", just so Daredevil gets something. Jeez.

These look like good selections, but what would I do, I've only seen one of them. Point is, there is nothing on there that looks incredibly stupid or that I know is just an average film *ahem* Frida *ahem*. How could Far From Heaven not be there? That is weird, but good riddance. Not a great movie by any means.

You gotta wonder how About Schmidt is a drama and not in the comedy category.

Oh yeah, and Goldie Hawn for The Banger Sisters? Talk about SUCKAGE! That movie was TERRIBLE. Sickening, perverted, stupid film with zero point at all.

Road to Perdition was an absolutely great film, most critics and moviegoers agree with CMJ, and I do too. It wasn't the best film of the year, I mean, Star Wars was waaaay better than that, so was TTT, Simone, The Count of Monte Cristo, and Equilibrium (I saw it; I love it). Nonetheless it'll be making my top 10 easily, unless every movie I've not seen this year is actually better, which I doubt.

I think Punch-Drunk Love is a lot of ado about nothing. I mean, yeah I gave it 3 stars, I enjoyed it, it was a good movie, but come on. It wasn't award worthy by any means.

I think why you get Goldie Hawn nominated for that idiotic film is because there are almost NO good female performances in any given year. It's incredible, but actresses rarely lead a film and when they do, the movie is not always going to be good, of course, just like any movie with a male lead, so what it comes down to is only a handful of films that are even just "good" that also have leading ladies. I think it's rather sad that there aren't more good actresses in Hollywood and the roles for them are limited. Basically they end up in stupid chick flicks that nobody is going to be giving big thumbs up ratings to because they lack even an attempt at originality.

On the other hand, I could nominate 15 to 20 people this year for Best Actor because there's just too many to count, so that award really means something.
