View Full Version : New Orleans Bowl...

Okay, so it's not the Grandaddy of 'em all...but to me this is BY FAR the most important game of the season. I woke up at 4AM this morning, like a kid on Christmas morning.
Scrap'em Eagles!
Anyways, this might be one of the more entertaining games of the season. The Bearcats have a high powered offense, but MY defense it ranked in near the top of every major defensive category statistically(including scoring...giving up 14.4 points a game..3rd nationally IIRC).
Our offense struggled in the early season when our starting QB Scott Hall went down for the year. Andrew Smith, our redshirt freshmen backup had trial by fire in several TOUGH early season games. He hung strong though as we took some lumps, and lost a few games we could/should have won(right Jedieb? ;) )The last 2 games he was a totally different player.
Go Mean Green!
Cincy's 'D' has been on a rollercoater this season, but I expect a tough game out of them. This will be a hard fought battle, but I like the Mean Green Defense to hold the line in the 4th quarter.
UNT 20
Cinci 16
Can't wait to hear my beloved fight song on ESPN2 today...:)
Let's give a cheer for the U of NT,
Cheer for the Green and White.
Victory's in store, whatever the score,
Our team will ever fight, FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!
Shoulder to shoulder they march along,
Striving for victory.
Playing the game, for the honor and fame,
And the Glory of UNT.
U....N....T...EAGLES! UNT EAGLES FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!
To say I'm jacked up is an understatement. It's killing me that I'm not in the Crescent city.

As long as the University of South Florida doesn't make an appearnce in New Orleans, UNT should have a fighting chance. ;)
Just when is the game and where can we tune in?
CMJ
Dec 17th, 2002, 08:51:54 AM
The game is on ESPN2 starting at 7 EST(so that's 6CST, 5MST, and 4 on my time...won't let anyone have an excuse to miss it). :D

Nah, it'll work. :) You know CUSA is affiliated with the NO Bowl Jedieb. In a future year we could be playing against each other in that game. If so, we'll both have to make the extra effort to go. :)
I've been reading articles from different publications ALL morning. As much as I wish I was in NO right now, maybe it's a good thing I'm not.
I hope I have any energy left come gametime. :)

CMJ, I can just imagine you sitting on your couch staring at the tv which has the timer on it set for 4pm PST! Nothing is on it at the moment, you're just sitting, motionless, staring, conserving your energy until gametime, aren't you? :lol

It's probably around 30,000 undergrads. The stadium is up to like 80,000.
It's just that I always hear about Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor, Univ of Houston, Rice....

Well UNT's in Dallas. And normally the only football teams people care about in Dallas are the Cowboys.
SMU gets mention but UNT never does.
Now that they have the bowl game...twill be different. HOpefully.

UNT has over 30K undergrads as well. We're the 4th largest University in the State behund UT, A&M, and Houston. We're projected to pass UH in 5 years.
Oh and UNT is in Denton...35 miles north of Dallas. SMU is IN Dallas. :p
I hate the Mustangs, but that's a different topic. ;)

ACtually it's about 45 minutes north of Dallas. But of course that depends on I35 Traffic.
It's taken me a couple hours to get to Denton the traffic has been so bad.

SMU - yeah, I [used] to hear about SMU alot too, before they got the death penalty.
Don't take this the wrong way, but is UNT a Division 1A school? Are they in a conference?
Do they ever play ranked teams?
