The SE Sarlacc drove home Lucas's view of Fett's fate. Let's be honest, there's only one reason Fett was brought back from the dead; $$$$$. Actually, that's LOTS of reasons. :)

Die Force Enema mit ein Dreidel!
Anyway...I'm a bit put off by Mr. Lucas's statement in that. I mean, there's a bit of latent hipocrisy in that, seeing that he's supposedly authorizing all these stories to be put out, and yet he goes against them. Which is it, fat man?
Admiral Lebron
Dec 3rd, 2002, 09:17:48 PM
Thats exactly what he wants you to think.
Jedieb
Dec 3rd, 2002, 09:21:12 PM
I don't think he bothers with it that much. It's just not a priority with him. He's letting other people play with his universe. I think the only thing he'll ever really have a passion for is the films. Everything outside of that isn't nearly as important to him and he doesn't put anywhere near the effort into it as he does the films. I don't think that'll ever change.
Sanis Prent
Dec 3rd, 2002, 09:22:34 PM
Still, he needs to actually be able to read and comprehend the stuff people are putting in his universe. If he's gonna stamp and authenticate it....at least know whats happening, lest he make the same mistake again.
Admiral Lebron
Dec 3rd, 2002, 09:23:04 PM
He likes the comics.
Jedieb
Dec 3rd, 2002, 09:29:14 PM
He likes the comics because they don't take up much of his time. I seriously doubt he's ever read any of the novels or even all of the comics. I bet every single person here has read more EU novels than GL. When he sets out to write a novel or shoot a scene he's completely oblivious to what the EU has done with his universe. Take the Death Star. Now, you can put enough work into an explanation as to how the DS ended up in the Maw and why the Geonosians and Dooku's role in its creation was never mentioned in the EU, but it's clear that GL wanted to include the DS in the prequels and he didn't care what had been written about it in the EU.
I kind of wish the EU had never been started until AFTER all the films were complete. I think the stories would have been much different and the continuity tighter.

Ahhh yes, but think of how great it is when you wipe you bum with a NJO EU book and then flush that nightmare all away.
I'm up to page 212 of Children of The Jedi

I love the way how EU bashers seem to love the thought that peoples work is made redundant. Not seen maturity like that since the Rugrats ;)
Anyway, I didnt see a problem from the moment I saw the post.
Yes, in George's view -- as far as the films go -- the baddest bounty hunter in the Galaxy met his match in the Great Pit of Carkoon where --unfortunately for Mr. Fett -- the ghastly sarlacc made its home.
However, Lucas also approved Fett's comeback in the expanded universe. And of course, by going back in time with the prequels, the Star Wars creator has brought Boba Fett back to life himself, albeit at a much younger age.
First, note how the two sentences contradict. Now, let me analyse a particular part:
Yes, in George's view -- as far as the films go -- the baddest bounty hunter in the Galaxy met his match in the Great Pit of Carkoon where --unfortunately for Mr. Fett -- the ghastly sarlacc made its home.
Notice how it pauses and says as far as the films go?
What the answer is saying is that if you are only talking about the films, he died. In the same way as if I asked "Did Han and Leia marry?". MOST will say they will, would or do. But AS FAR AS THE FILMS GO...no.
So basically, we have a case here of bashers jumping in to flame, when they seem to miss something that is made to be noticed. AS FAR AS THE FILMS GO :)

Considering there has been over ten authors in the last three years, how can reading five give you a good overview? :)
And as an aside, he puts a big intrest into those that go inbetween movies, as in the current CLone War novels and SOTE. Less with those he wont be working near. Doesnt mean they affect him obviously, but it still happens :)

Because the ones I read weren't particuarly great?
ReaperFett
Dec 4th, 2002, 10:18:26 AM
My point is, that is like saying I read a book, I didnt like it, so think all books suck ;)
Sanis Prent
Dec 4th, 2002, 10:38:36 AM
Well if the one's I read are any indication, they likely do. I'm not going to invest my time and continue reading that mess, when I know there's better things out there to read, like Clancy, Pratchett, etc.
I just don't enjoy SW books.
ReaperFett
Dec 4th, 2002, 10:48:41 AM
I dont want to read another Clancy book after Rainbow Six. So emotionless and cold. I'll stick to the films :)

GOURD! COOL! I have not heard that since I was a little kid! That is so cool!
I have only read 3 books out of the EU:
X-Wing Wraith Squadron
X-Wing Iron Fist
X-Wing Solo Command
Those books were very good, IMO. They should make a book series soley about about WRaith Squadron.

Yeah but I wanted Wraith Squadron to be more involved in the Starfighters of Adumar.....it was a dman good book though! Hell most of the EU has been good books with minor exceptions....*cough* children of the Jedi *cough*
Oh and I liked seeing Jedieb out of the BO forum.....it was refreshing! Now all we need is JMK and JMC to make an appearance and all would be cool!!!!!!!!!! :D
