1. If there is a Libel issue on a website, ANYONE can be charged, from the poster to the owner.


2. You dont HAVE to be located in the same country.

Messageboards vary slightly, since there is moderation occuring. Libel on a regular website means that the owner had to consciously allow it to be there. On a messageboard, there's much more leeway.

This case refers to David Beckham (Footballer, husband to one of the SPice Girls) suing a message board for rumours that to even MENTION might get you sued right now :)

You can sue for anything in the US. Doesn't mean you'll win. :)

Thanks for mentioning. But if that were a worry, then just about every board would be closed because flamewars are the definition of libel.
