I was reading up on how they animated all of their large battle sequences for the LOTR movies. It's quite interesting. Basically, it works like a computer game: They set up a bunch of units on one side, set up some opposing units on the other side, and tell them to go fight. There's no distinct pattern or pre-planned sequence for the fight - it just goes however it goes. Think of an enormous game of Warcraft.

Edit ~ Yep, looks like they mention it in this article:
When Orc meets elf in digital battle, neither knows exactly what he—or his opponent—is going to do. The elf may swing his sword, but when? His opponent will see it and duck (or not, and not). The elf jumps forward. The Orc cowers—and this time, the elf's blow finds bone. While the result of the whole battle is broadly predetermined—there is a plot—individual sequences have what might be called programmed spontaneity. Each movement emerges from the one before it.

50,000 fighters? It should be closer to like 15,000...10,000 Orcs and Uruks and Wargs, etc, and then maybe 5,000 men max at Helm's Deep defending. There can't be 40,000 men inside defending, and 10,000 orcs attacking, that's ludicrous!

I think you're right about the numbers Darth, but the article didn't mention the breakdown of the characters IIRC. Or did it, it was a pretty long article.

Depends on what you call a spoiler.

If you've never read the book, or aren't following the production of TTT, then the whole review is a gigantic spoiler. But if you have read the book, then not much of it is spoilers, if anything.

The whole book is one long spoiler. I am trying to read all of TTT before it comes out. I want to be able to compare the movie to it as I watch. :D

I gave up avoiding spoilers after the trailer.
