I've heard some very negative things about it, including it being extremely buggy. I'd have a look at some reviews before making a decision.
The most vile and treacherous bug to come along in a long time is the uninstall bug that wipes out system files. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT, uninstall this game before you run the update from the POR homepage.http://www.arstechnica.com/reviews/01q4/pool_of_radiance/pool-1.html

Well, Pool of Radiance and SWG aren't very similar, so that doesn't seem like a logical replacement. Plus, SWG won't be out for some time.

If you're looking for a D&D RPG for the PC, I reccomend Neverwinter Nights. It's quite good.

I've played both. I thought PoR was fun, until I played NWN...it blows it out of the water.
