View Full Version : Chosen style sets not sticking

My default style set is Streamlined. No matter what style set I use, it always goes back to Portal style when I come to the site.

Know why?

Corrupt cookie file.

Close all your IE windows, open the windows control panel, open the internet control panel option and delete all cookies. You will then need to log in again, but from then on things should work as they are meant to.

I did all that, and this still happens. I've done it and logged in several times today, and it just takes me to portal style. Also, every now and then I log in at work. Same thing happens on that machine.

It could be related to the fact that the cookie is for one of our different URLs. We now have 4 URLs. For the best results try to always use the same URL of your choosing.

This still sounds like a cookie issue to me, as I am unable to reproduce it unless my own cookie file is corrupt and following my steps previously has always fixed it when I have that issue.

But it could also be Browser security settings, which Nup has a little better first hand experience with.

Yeah SWFans is on Favs so its always the same URL I enter.

I deleted cookies the way you told me and deleted them anywhere I could find them (there is another user directory on my system that also has a cookie directory).

If you click "Tools" - "Internet Options" and then the "Security" tab, what is selected in that area?

It could also be possible its your browser version. I recall having semi similar problems before I upgraded to IE 6.

I thought I'd let you know that I'm having the same problem while using IE. It doesn't happen when I use Mozilla, though. I tried clearing the cookies, as well as visiting and setting my style set on each URL. It always sets itself back to the Default (Portal) style set. The problem is recent, and has been happening for a little less than a month. Nothing has changed about my IE browser settings to cause it.

Your chosen style says Portal under your name. That style has to be changed in your user CP.
