Actually, I'd say that I've got just over a hundred thousand people who agree with me. That, and at 40 dollars, this ticket is a big bargain. These have been going for 100 and up, so I'm ecstatic.

That is a bargain. I wish I could get New Orleans Bowl tickets. Or Dallas/Washington Tickets.
And on the subject of LOTR: TTT
I think I'm going to wait a slight bit before seeing TTT. I've got a date for it and my date can't make it till after opening night.
But if I could I would see it opening night. I still might.

Not to mention...its easy to do a midnight showing in december when you're living in the southern hemisphere.
We have this stuff called cold weather...which in december, sometimes produces sleet, snow, or other weather calamities. Its worse at night, and thus...why would you freeze for a midnight showing? There'd better be eskimo girls giving lapdances or something, cause otherwise I'll catch it when the thermometer is above the freezing point. All depends on what you love, I guess. Case in point...the coldest I've ever been was the 2000 Iron Bowl, in which it sleeted (on my birthday, no less). That is acceptible, because there's little I won't endure to watch the Alabama vs Auburn game. Now, LotR is good, don't get me wrong, but I'm no fanboy. Not even close. I couldn't tell you the names of the main characters, and I certainly couldn't tell you what color Aragorn's boxer shorts are when he forges the sword of omens, to fight the spanish inquisition. Its just not a point of obsession for me. I'll see the movie opening day...because by then I'll be back to the point where I can afford such amenities as a trip to the movies. But I'm not gonna wait in the cold and freeze for it.

I went to see the original a day or two after release, in a half empty cinema :)

A half empty theatre is always better than a full one IMO. I'll go see it, but not on opening night or day. :) And depends on the cash situation as well.

Depends what time you can go though. Went to see DAD at 3.50, and it was 1/2 full, which is how I like it. Noone directly behind/to the side/in front, but people around to garner reactions of. And best, NO FREAKS EATING POPCORN BEHIND ME :)

I also look for theaters with student discounts :) that is a plus for me.

:lol
I prefer near empty theatres, because full ones are too noisy and I usually end-up behind some tall person. I'm hoping it's shown at the expensive theatre though, the $8/seat theatre is horrible. I'll gladly pay those few extra dollars for a comfy seat and a bigger screen :)

I'm well aware of weather concerns. In past cases of bad weather, the theatre in question has allowed people to line up inside. It's not a problem.
As for seeing it at midnight... it's no different than seeing TPM or AOTC at midnight. It's a fun experience and a great atmosphere.

I disagree, my gain :)
I like to see films when Im in my prime of the day, in a cinema that is about 1/2 full. As a student, I can manage this, on release day if I choose to.
Id do the midnight thing if I could see the film like that the SECOND time. And that wont happen :)

*watches thread dance carelessly on the edge of total breakdown* Because of work, I'm probably not gonig to be able to see a midnight show. Not to mention, gonig alone at midnight would just be horribly depressing. Opening day, noonish is a good time for me. I'll take three nephews with me, and we'll splurge and get popcorn and have a grand old time talking about the books before hand.
Well, Daniel hasn't read the books, but he really enjoyed the first movie.
One thing, and then I leave this thread: Please, in a thread about LotR, if you don't like it, don't troll by posting here and proclaiming what a pile of shite it is. In return, yes, we are all aware of the differences of rugby and American Football, do not troll by proclaiming this difference and your dislike for the American sport by posting needlessly.
There are mostly RPers in this thread, so I know whats going on. I'm also a little grumpy now. So.

Well my local theater is not sure if they will have a midnight show. If they do, I'm so there. I mean, weather wont be a problem (The carribean, heaven on earth).

Do you have room for me to live with you/near you? I've never been to the Carribean. :(
