I dont think he would. Acting is about the look just as much as talking.

Anyway, shouldnt they work on getting the people with a chance the supporting actor nod?

If its as good as they are suggesting, then Special Effects Oscar, yes. But acting?????

Okay, even LOTR fanboy thinks that's a big stretch.

You would think so. But maybe they think that there will be no chance after McKelland got a nod last year? That Serkis (Gollum) is a new performance and should be placed forward?

There is the same chance of Serkis getting even nominated as there is of me drinking a six pack of Budweiser. And considering I have no idea where Budweiser can be got in Australia....

well, i think that he did a good job and all but maybe getting an oscar is just going a little too far...

you THINK?

When your best line is "my prrreciousss", you shouldn't even come in the top 100 considerations for an academy award for acting!

I mean, Leo DiCaprio would have a better shot for his role in "What's eating Gilbert Grape". And thats because he really did seem retarded. I didn't know he wasn't until I saw him in something else. How do you make gollum a "revelolutionary performance"? Have you previously heard a gollum for reference?

Yarg the morons are advancing on the hill! Fix bayonets!

I doubt he will get nominated either, I think it will be a long time before a voice actor gets nominated for an acting role, now if they created an award for that then sure.

That wouldn't be a problem for me...but even then...I'd have reservations about nominating the voice of gollum, but its not an impossibility.

i agree totally...he might be good at voices but might suck at acting...hey, he only had about 5 minutes in the whole first movie...

You have to remember that he didn't JUST do voice work.
He actualy acted the character and just got turned into CGI.
And, the fact he was only a VA was NOT the reason Jar-Jar wasn't nominated.
But, that goes without saying. . .

But Ty, he didnt have to show emotions and so on. He had to walk and talk. Some actors big problem is the face

well seeing as Ahmed Best actually did move around and they mapped his movements digitally (the SAME thing they're doing with Gollum) I fail to see the point.
