Yesterday, November 19, 2002 at 6pm I was diagnosed with depression. The psychiatrist wants me to take an anti-depressant and then also another drug to act as a mood-balancer and also to help me with anxiety. I'm going to talk to my mom about all this since I have never had to deal with the whole aquiring medicine sort of thing. At least now tha tI know I am depressed I can start doing stuff to make it better, right?

You gotta start somewhere.

It is a good place to start knowing you have it but it don't add to a speedy recovery.

Of course not. But all the same, at least I have somewhere to start. It's a long road ahead.

Yeah, it usually takes about three months to really notice a difference. I have bi-polar so I should know. Believe me, though, it's worth the aggrivation of remembering to take the medicine.

Meds do help, usually. If they don't remember what I told you about going back to your doctor :)
Good Luck Wei-Wei. :D

Welcome to the club, Wei. ;)

Meds have been a HUGE help for me -- I take five (!) to control my bipolar. They're going to take a while to kick in -- I usually feel a placebo effect the first couple of days, then it takes three to six weeks for them to kick in properly.

As for remembering to take them daily -- I got a couple of those seven-day pill boxes and glued them together and colored one side with a black magic marker. I put a week's worth of meds in there, one side for mornings and the other side for nights. Makes life a whole lot easier.

In the meantime, do things you really enjoy, don't be afraid to pamper yourself once in a while, particularly when you're feeling depressed, and manage your stress level. I managed to survive college and earn my B.A. by doing just that and plan on doing the exact same thing when I start grad school, so I know it works.

Best of luck to ya'. :D
