View Full Version : Kiss Me When I'm Gone

Syren Lysandor
Nov 15th, 2002, 11:32:59 AM
Her blue eyes stared down at the puddle as her reflection looked back, expressionless.

Drip. Drop. Drip. Drop.

She gingerly dipped her toe into it before taking a step back.

Drip. Drop. Drip. Drop.

"Eve ...?"

Drip. Drop. Drip. Drop.

"Eve, make it stop !"

Running back through the glass doors of the balcony, Syren retreated from the outside as rain gently poured. Water was dripping from the gutters with the same steady beat and rhythm, as if trying to install order in the crazy world.

"Eve !"

She barely spoke, and when she did, it was a barely audible whisper. Today, however, was vastly different. Her bare feet thudded against the carpeted floor while her white nightgown flowed out from behind. Stopping infront of Eve's bedroom door, Syren flung it open.

"Eve ! Make it stop ! Make it stop !"

Eve was sitting at her window when the door suddendly flung open. Her eyes widened as she immediately stood up, just to realize that Syren was panicking. She put her gloved hands on each of Syren's shoulder, gently pushing back a few locks of her fiery red hair. She shushed softly, forcing a little smile to reconfort her.

"It's nothing, Syren ... It's just water dropping from the sky."

Taja hummed to herself quietly, the gentle drizzle kissing her cheeks as she sat hunched by the edge of the pavement. The rain was soothing to her pale skin, just as the steady rhythm of its falling quieted her rampant thoughts. So gentle, so pure...

"No..."

Her scarlet hair hugged her face closely, shielding the Dark Jedi from the bemused glances of the pedestrians who walked past, shaking their heads sympathetically as they hurried by under the hoods of their umbrellas. The song of the winds was gradually picking up. She would have to find shelter soon.

"...It's not alright..."

She craned her neck upwards and only just caught sight of a red-haired girl as she rushed indoors from the balcony, on the third- or fourth-storey apartment of a building across the street. Taja immediately felt a strange pull towards the woman... a subliminal attraction that existed between all who were lost and confused. Empty. And then there was the other presence, the one whose aura resembled that of her Apprentice. Eve...

Pulling the collar of her jacket higher, she whispered in reply to her unvoiced question, "...No."

Eve......No.

Eve lifted her head from Syren to look out of her window. Someone was calling out to her ? But it was an unfamiliar presence. It was the first time she didn't know the person calling out to her. She let go of Syren softly to not make any sudden movements to scare the soul-less girl and popped her head out of the window, looking down.

"..."

"The .. sky," she repeated, staring into Eve's brown eyes.

After that, she lapsed into silence, just staring at her 'sister' until Eve looked away and then moved. Like a second shadow, Syren moved right behind the woman and peered out from behind her shoulder out the window. The rain continued to drizzle and several people outside were rushing for their homes.

"The sky .. so far up. Doesn't it hurt the rain when it falls ?"

As of late, Syren had been working on her sentences and could make a couple complete, instead of making them just fragments.

"No ..." Eve answered, but she sounded distant.

Her eyes looked around for another couple of seconds then concluded that she was just getting paranoid. She turned her head back to Syren and forced a little smile on her lips before putting her gloved hand on the girl's head.

"No, the rain isn't alive, like us ..." She kind of hesitated.

But you have no heart. No soul, the voice whispered in the minds of both women, as if in answer to Eve's statement about being alive. It was followed by the mental equivalent of a sigh. It's so hard to die.

"Like ... us ?"

She canted her head to the side, pondering. What exactly was alive ? Did it mean that as long as you had blood circulating and a functioning brain you were "alive" ? Or did it mean you had to have a soul ?

But then ... something novel happened. A voice spoke in her head - well, 'spoke' wasn't quite the word. Her empty, blue eyes widened slightly as she whirled and looked at Eve in astonishment.

"What .. w-was that ?!"

Not waiting for an answer, Syren turned and ran out of the room, her gown flowing behind her. The voice .. it knows, but how ?

"Speak again ! Eve, make it speak again !"

The red head started to go in room after room, throwing pillows, ripping apart books, moving furniture and breaking antiques in hopes to find the source of the voice.

The Deliverator bursts in from the cold, shaking out his shaggy hair and shiveing.

"Sheez...colder'n a bounty hunter's smile out there."

He shakes out his wet clothes and leans heavily on the wall to wait it out...but instead leans on a door. It's not locked, hell, its barely closed. He falls backward into the room, at the feet of Syren Lysandor, who just walked by in search of...something. She looks down at him with a blank stare.

"Heh...sorry."

[OOC: Taja asked I post here...if Eve and Syren want me gone, just ask a mod to delete this.

As soon as she went out into the living room where the main door was, a man just ... dropped by - literally. Looking down at him, she took a step back slowly, her feet wet from the water that dripped off of his hair.

"....."

Was he the voice ?

The constant beat of the raindrops as they splashed against the ground drummed inside Taja's ears. She wasn't supposed to be here. Despite her undying interest to finally meet Eve, the other presence that she had seen - but couldn't quite sense... it scared the Dark Jedi. She was so strongly drawn towards Syren; there was something very oddly alluring about the red-haired girl, at least in Taja's mind.

At this moment, all she wanted was to walk up to the building and confront both the women inside: Eve, to satiate her curiosity, and Syren because... just because. Because she wanted to find that there wasn't anything special about her... but her influence (or lack of it) was overpowering. A longing, even - and it was wrong.

"No," she muttered under her breath, rising to her feet. The street was by now completely empty and with a last glance at the flat, Taja briskly paced down the lane. "Not today."

A final message was sent to the brunette woman, unheard by Syren. Keep her safe, Eve.

By reflex, she grabbed the gun located in her back and aimed it at the intruder. She grabbed Syren, charging her gun. A angry expression drew on her face - She didn't like being messed with.

"Who are you ?" She asked, in a low tone.

"The Deliverator."

He stands slowly and raises his hands.

"Hey lady, I ain't barging in to rob you. I just came in to get out of the rain. I was gonna lean on the wall and rest a minute, but got your open door instead."
