OOC - Hey, he has to meet his adoptive granddaughter-type-person eventually. ^^;

A slow creak could be heard groaning through the air as Gitane drifted back and forth on an old, rusty swing. Elena was off doing something or another that the girl had absolutely no intrest in, leaving her to her own devices for entertainment. The feathers of her small wings flapped softly in the wind as she swung, her eyes gazing over the abandoned park she'd discovered.

Gitane let out an exasperated sigh and dropped back, her legs bending under the seat as she hung upside-down. Aside from the creaking of the old chains, the night air was silent, despite the park being right next to a street. Perhaps this is why the sudden sound of footsteps, however soft they may be, surprised her so much. Her little mind buzzed with memories of ghost stories and tales of witches that eat little children. Gitane sat up, pulling her feet onto the swing with her as she looked around with wide eyes.

"Who's there?!"

A hand pushed from behind, propelling the little girl gently on the swing.

"My name is Diego."

He kept pushing her, enamored by her child-like innocence.

"And what about you?"

Her feet slipped off the small seat slowly as the little girl tilt her head back to stare up at the man.

"Gitane," She replied with a light smile. Her hands wrapped around the chains that held the swing up as she kicked her feet back and forth.

"Mummy told me not to tell strangers anything else. ..Are you a stranger?" Her question was sincere. Elena had never fully explained what a stranger was.

He smiled thinly behind her.

"No, I'm a friend."

"Friend..?" She'd never heard that word before.

"A friend is someone you spend your time with, and have fun with. Somebody you enjoy, and care about."

He smiled, tussling her hair.

"Oh! You mean like Mummy!"

Getting tired of the only view of the man being an upside-down one, Gitane reached her hands up above her head and grabbed the chains. One foot at a time, she stood up on the swing and turned around to look at him with bright eyes.

"Yes..."

Diego arched an eyebrow, watching the little girl with curiosity.

"...like mommy."
