This is a pointless thread devoted to great games. This is my current Fav.

Grand Thieft Auto 3.

Why? You can steel, cheat, maim, and kill........and sleep with whores. It doesn't get better than that.

Gonna have to go with any James Bond game, especially Goldeneye.

System Shock II. Innovative engine, excellent plot, more twists than an M. Night Shamylan movie, and the scariest game of all time. How can you beat that? :)

Buy Upgrading to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Nov 14th, 2002, 06:02:33 PM
Last game I ever played tothe end was Quake. Played Doom and Doom II to death. Since then nothing has interested me more than a few hours.

Before that, ever heard of a game called Lode Runner? I was a God at that. Early 80's. Apple II was the best version, tho the arcade version I beat as well

Got Vice City awhile back, beat the missions, still need to get all the things needed for 100% though...I can't decide which I like better, GTA 3 or Vice City..

Final Fantasy 3 for SNES was the shit. I like it better than the other FF's..

I rocked all you Aussies with 500 ping at 15% packet loss in Q3A. You actually managed to kill other people though.

Good thing for you guys it wasn't Unreal Tournament. ^_^

Well......

Rpg: Final Fantasy 7-3

Fighting: Marvel Vs Capcom 2

FPS: Time Splitters 2

Adventure: Sonic Adventure 1-2

I cant actually say my favorite game because I cant compare a fighting game to an rpg or to a FPS it doesnt make sense.

Gurney Devries
Nov 14th, 2002, 07:34:55 PM
Your favorite FPS is on a console? :lol

Zeke
Nov 14th, 2002, 07:41:22 PM
I fail to see the humor, but ok. I don't like FPS, I'm not very good at them. I'm best at action games, like Sonic and Megaman.

Gurney Devries
Nov 14th, 2002, 07:45:18 PM
It's funny because saying "My favorite FPS is Time Splitters" is like saying "My favorite RPG is Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest".

Gurney Devries
Nov 16th, 2002, 12:31:14 AM
Fair enough, I guess. But Time Splitters is a very weak FPS, compared to even mediocre offerings on the PC. Try Solider of Fortune 2, No One Lives Forever, Aliens vs Predator 2, Serious Sam 2, Thief Gold, System Shock 2 or Tribes 2 (lotsa sequels, I know. :))

Rognan Dar
Nov 16th, 2002, 12:40:16 AM
I dont like Time Splitters that much, sure you get to do chalanges and all that stuff but its not the best shoot them up game. Tribes is a cool game, though I havb't played it that much but what I have its been cool.

Gurney Devries
Nov 16th, 2002, 12:45:33 AM
I would stay away from the PS2 port of Tribes. Graphics aside, the entire point of the game is working together with your team. With no form of communication on the PS2 version, it pretty much defeats the point.

Plus, the teams are limited to very small sizes on the PS2 version. Maximum of 18 people, if I recall correctly. The PC version supported up to 64 players per match.

FPS are just not meant for console games. There are some occasional good ones, but in all seriousness...if they ever find a way for console players and pc players to deathmatch together, you will easily discover the difference.

The only genre where consoles are safe IMO is the fighting game. Its the only kind of game that's condusive to a console's joystick button-mashing mania.

I think they had a tournament between Dreamcast Quake 3 and PC Quake 3. I'll just leave the consoleboys at "pitiful" and be done with it.

Helenias would own your sorry backside with Starcraft or Wacraft. We set up a LAN party here and she joined in, never seen Starcraft before - and whaled five of us in no time flat, two of them being Starcraft addicts. It was pitiful to see how easy it was for her.

Also Z, she beat that in ultra swift time. Seems that type of strategy game she has the right mind for.

Nov 19th, 2002, 01:41:25 PM
Just going back to console FPS games, only one really stands out in my mind and that's "Goldeneye" but apart from that I'd agree the FPS games are best played on PCs. It just makes more sense.

My favourite games? Well, what is the best game of all time to me is "Ocarina of Time". I am a Nintendo poster-boy when I think about it and rightly so as far as I am concerned.

Diego Van Derveld
Nov 19th, 2002, 11:52:32 PM
I liked Time Splitters the first time I saw it...when it was called Goldeneye. Seriously...those games are eerily similar in style.

Lion El' Jonson
Nov 20th, 2002, 05:05:13 AM
mmm...Ground Control sucked, but I think Homeworld is awesome!

Nov 20th, 2002, 05:22:08 AM
X_x other then StarCraft Ive never played a strategy game that was "fun" all the other are either too realistic are are TOO long -_-......That's what I love bout StarCraft it's fun and it's fast in 20 minutes 6 ppl can beat the BIIP out of each other :D

Marcus Telcontar
Nov 20th, 2002, 05:35:44 AM

Age of Kings with the Conquerors expansion pack. I have no idea how much of my life I have spent playing that game networked. Whoo, it is SWEET!

Age of Mythology is taking longer to grow on me, though.

I love my strategy in Age of Kings, though. I play as the Spanish, build crazy husge walls full of defenses, then build an army of paladins, conquistadors, and at LEAST 30 bombard cannons, then I invade. My mounted units play the sole role of protecting my cannon fleets. Castles drop in one volley. I love it, and people hate me for it. That many cannons are unstoppable behind a wall of 80 paladins and 40 conquistadors.

Chaos Alexander
Nov 20th, 2002, 06:15:16 PM
I loved Legend of Legaia. I felt like I bonded with that Dark Raseri Jedo that Songi had.....then they all died. I was crushed. I thought it could get no worse. Then they made a sequal....that had nothing to do with Legend of Legaia. Damn them all to Hell!!!!!!!!!

On a side note.......I love Black and White. I am a good Diety(s/p I know) that is fair and just......but will crush all enemys..

For good reason...its an ancient, sub-par RTS.

It had humorous moments, but everything else about it was just plain BAD.

If you want a good, old-school RTS, go for Total Annihilation, and the Core Contingencies. That is STILL probably my favorite one to date.

Lion El' Jonson
Nov 21st, 2002, 05:25:48 PM
I can't find TA anymore, and my friend rolled over my skirmish disk with a chair, so I need a new one...any ideas?

BTW, Core Contingency was cooooooooool........

Rognan Dar
Nov 21st, 2002, 05:27:14 PM
I havn't ever heard of half the games you guys are talking about(mumbles to himself.)

Lion El' Jonson
Nov 21st, 2002, 05:34:36 PM
Poor guy...TA was awesome. It did some things that shouldn't really be in an RTS, like Unlimited Resources and a huge unit cap. There was also maybe 70-100 units per side, and the modders came up with another 600 or so units on their own. TA had an extremely active modding community.

Then, Core Contingency came out as an add-on pack, and introduced a few new units, including this giant thing with lasers...Krogoth, or something....:lol

I rate TA as one of the best games of all time...sadly, the company went out of business because their next few games didn't sell too well....:(

So, anybody know where to buy a new TA disk?
