View Full Version : Rain, rain, come pouring down

"Rain, rain, rain," The little girl sang as she jumped into a puddle, her ash-blond hair plastered across her cheeks and neck, water flooding her bulky boots. In her hand was a heavily water-tight datapad that, if Gitane had been able to read, she would have known was explaining how the real Gitane could no longer be with Elena, and that this child was a daughter, of sorts.

"Splash, splash, splash!" A high pitched laugh echoed down the street as the Falleen girl flapped her wings and raced forward, realising that she was nearing where the funny men in the white coats had told her to go. Her headband bleeped, the accessory created as a sort of guide for her trip to Elena's residence. Unlike most children, she was looking forward to meeting the stranger.

As Gitane neared the building, she set her datapad down and wrung water from her hair, as well as taking off each boot to dump out the murky ocean that had collected in them, before smiling brightly and knocking her hand against the door.

Hearing a quiet knock at her apartment door, she paced down the stairs slowly to open it. In the past few weeks she’d seen little, if anything, of Gitane and it was showing. Her eyes looked more tired than usual, and though hunting with her father and s’Ilancy cheered her up, she would have much preferred to be spending time in her lovers’ arms.

Letting out a sigh, she pulled the door open and looked down. A small girl sat on her step.

“… Ahum, yes, can I help you?”

The girl beamed up at Elena, hopping to her feet and holding the datapad up. She had absolutely no idea that its contents could be anything but pleasent. However, when she saw the expression change on the Lupine woman's face, she suddenly felt like saying that it was all a joke.

Her lips dropped into a frown as tears stung at her eyes. Reading over the datapad, she could literally feel her heart breaking down. She’d waited months and months for Gitane to see through Vega and come to her. After she did all she’d asked was that she give up the Force … and now she was leaving her? And with a child!? Had she been able to crumple the datapad up, she would have done. Turning, her instant reaction was to slam the door… but she couldn’t just leave the little girl to die. With a reluctant sigh she held out a hand to her and offered to guide her inside.

A timid smile grew across Gitane's face as she stared up at the woman. Her small fingers brushed across her palm with such lightness, somehow fearing that Elena may shatter. After a moment of deciding that she was going to stay together, the girl rushed forward and hugged the Lupine tightly, apologising over and over again for whatever was upsetting her so much.

Reading on a little, she looked down a little startled at the small child clinging onto her. According to the information she’d been given, this was a clone of Gitane, which Gitane herself had made to be a daughter for Elena. Another damp sigh and she crouched down to look at the girl. Was this what Gitane had looked like as a child?

“… Hello… I’m Elena… what’s your name?”

"Ell-en-ah!" She repeated brightly, trying to wipe the woman's tears away with her rain-soaked sleeve. Her smile grew, although it was a bit of a cheerful smirk, as she studied Elena's face, her pale eyes searching, almost trying to memorise it. After a bit, she remembered the question. Her brow furrowed, as if she were trying to remember the answer.

"Gitane Cherise Blesse," She finally stated.

Just as she’d feared.

“Very… nice to meet you, Gitane,” she choked out finally.

“… how did you get here?”

"..Don't have to call me that if you don't want," She told the woman, her head tilting to the side. Her smile shrank as she watched the woman's expression.

"And.. I walked," She answered the later question, tapping her headband. "This thingy told me where to go."
