A DIE Reaper streaked across space, a brilliant explosion of flak erupted next to its starboard wing. A flash of blue quickly abated and canceled the energy discharge as the rear gattling of the Reaper took aim and unleashed a literal rain of fire that smashed into the pursuing fighter’s underbelly, ripping a massive hole in the durasteel hull and causing its trajectory to go erratic, the craft venting atmosphere until finally it exploded, a wave of blue energy shuddering the victorious craft, its compensators quickly taking charge and absorbing the released energy.

Two more DIE Reapers joined the first, forming into a small vanguard formation, front wing tips almost touching the ends of the leading craft’s wings. “This is Blood Sryche One, enemy fighter squadron has been neutralized, preparing for run on primary target.”

The transmission was sent to the Crimson Wake, which was waiting in a nearby sector. “Request declined, the Imperator has plans for this station, prepare to rejoin the rest of your squadron and setup a defensive perimeter.”

Two clicks followed the return message acknowledging the orders given. Khendon stood, hands clasped behind his back in a too familiar position, his brows were etched with tension, his eyes gazing through the officer who was reporting enemy casualties to him. The third lieutenant that was in front of Khendon tugged at his collar, beads of sweat flowing freely from his face, “Sir?”

“Oh,” said Khendon quickly trying to remember what the officer had said, “oh, yes, well.” Khendon turned away from the third lieutenant and called out, “prepare for the hyperspace jump, let’s get moving. Have our four TIE Executioner Mark 4 squadrons hyper in with us, keep that single DIE Reaper squadron out and hold the sister squadron in our belly, we may need them later but we don’t need them now.”

‘Aye’ and ‘Yes, Sir!’, thats what was quickly returned to Khendon as he took his seat again, pondering his strategy.
