View Full Version : About the New Republic

Alright, let's face it...the NR is dead. There's been MAYBE 15 posts in it in the last 4 or 5 months. The website hasn't been updated for more than a year, and there's almost 1000 New Republic starships sitting around gathering mold.
Yog, I have nothing against you...you are REALLLLLLY, REALLLLLY busy, man, as I understand it. The problem is, the board is dying..actually, it's dead. I think that the biggest problem is that there hasn't been much recruitment, and that our military leadership is only online once every month or so, if at all.
People complain that some of these "Invasion" fleets we've been having are getting ridiculous, mostly because they are completely unopposed until the enemy force reaches the planet. Not only is this annoying, but it's unrealistic as well. The job of protecting planets has fallen to the GJO, a task on which they are both:
1)Not suited for, and...
2)There's not enough of us.
Besides these, a lot of RPs go unfinished. One example is Armageddon Dawn, an RP that had a lot of potential but got completely screwed up halfway through because it was unrealistic. A detachment of 20 or so jedi couldn't defuse a situation between two immense armies. A more likely thing would be the jedi would scout ahead, report what's happening, and then the New Republic might be called in to assist. The presence of atmospheric bombardment is enough to quell many uprisings, and the NRSF could deploy detachments from orbit to secure, for example, the capital of the planet.
Unfortunately, since the NR has no active leadership, this never happens. I think that it's ridiculous that one of the largest combat forces in the galaxy is ignored just because it can't get its act together. As nothing ever happens in the board, we never get any new RPers, either, since they just assume that the board is dead since nothing has moved in the past month or so.
I signed up under this character for the New Republic FIVE MONTHS AGO! I was only granted entrance into the New Republic navy a month ago, and I have no ships to command, no men to order around...hell, I don't even know if anything's under construction! Also, if you navigate to the New Republic's website by way of www.thegjo.com, you'll notice that there are still links to EZboard in there!
I think that many large RPs would be much better if the NR participated in them as well. I've heard horror stories about fleet actions, but I think that they should be given one more chance. Once again, Yog, I have no problem with the fact that you're busy, it's just getting annoying to have no leadership. Please discuss here: Do you agree? Disagree? Please don't hijack this thread...yet, :lol.

Though I'm not really a fleet RPer, it'd be nice to see the NR back up and running once again. Perhaps a few vice co-ordinators could be appointed to sort out what's going on.

I'm on the NR's Rogue Squadron. So is AB.

Xazor is a Military Officer of the NRSF.....and my character Zara Drecker is Fleet Commander of the NRSF......but we haven't been doing anything.
I agree that the Armageddon Dawn RP got too crazy. We had a bit of stuff going on during Loki/Gav's RP's (Gods and Monsters, etc....) and for a while we did in Stone Cold in Love With you, but those threads have since died. :(
Anyone have any ideas for things? We need to get some stuff going.....
Thanks for brining this up Lion.....this is a good thing to be talking about. ;)

Xazor, you have Zera Drecker now? Cool. She put the smack down on Arya in my first RP with said character. Actually Hunter did, but..well its a long story.
Point: NR doesn't need a lot of NRSF, because, like the name says, they're just the SPECIAL forces. What about the regular forces?
Plus, Stone Cold can be revived, we're just waiting on you to post ;)

:lol Yeah, Marcus gave me the account for her, so yeah, it's me! ;) Sounds cool! :D
Yeah, I understand about the 'special' part of it, so it's all good. :D Yeah, what about the regular forces? :lol
Yeah, it could be revived....but I was the last person to post and no one did after me. :lol See for yourself:

As far as I know, all Jedi were honorably discharged from NRSF service.

:)...Xaz, I just thought it'd be a good idea if we could restore the NR, since the rest of the GJO has been going through changes, like the new council and the move to Coruscant. Jen also liked the idea...
Anyways, we've got Kindo and AB in Rogue Squadron, I'm in fleet command...I assume that Xazor will be reinstated in the regular NR, if she was discharged from the NRSF.
So, that's pretty much our list of active GJO NR members. As for people outside the known RPing groups (GJO, TSO, etc.), the ones that decided to join the NR only, I think they've pretty much left for one of the other groups, or are just gone completely. I'll ransack the recruitment center for a while and see if I can find anybody still active.
Well, keep on discussing...:D

Thinks....
Hmmm, well the NRSF was a brain fart Scorp, Morgan and I were behind (but it was my wittle bubby and NPC'ed before that), and it's moved on to General West. It also gave the NR a very, very effective military presence when it was needed.
Now, we do have military trained Jedi still... but it's really a thing that to play anything effectively it needs to be a primary character, not a secondry. The NRSF worked for it was run by mainly primary characters. And the NRSF was just plain cool as.
So, to have an effective NR presence, you need primary characters running it and to make it a good thing to join, to have people wantign to join.
Oh and Marcus' public id that the Galaxy knows of is Major General James T Tohmahawk. There were rumours of his demise a year ago, but no one found the body. It sems Mr Bad Attitude could make a reappearence soon ;)

Which is a problem, as you can see...as the board is dead, so is anybody who's primary character is New Republic...

Can I just reinstate myself into the NR or what do I have to do? I didn't think to go to the board seeing as though it would take forever to get in.....and I didn't hear that the Jedi were honorably discharged from the NRSF...last I knew I was still in it along with Marcus, Helenias....etc......other people whom I can't remember... :lol Um....so yeah, I'm at a loss, but if that's the case, then I'll join the NR.
Unless of course, Marcus wants to revive the NRSF.....Xaz is my primary character, and I'd like to help if you want to do that.....but, yeah.....other than that, I am just waiting for more people to get in on this discussion 'cuz it's pretty important. :)

Correct. NRSF is a non-Jedi entity...completely separate.
Xazor Elessar
Nov 10th, 2002, 12:23:26 PM
Hmm......, not a Jedi entity? Okay, I get it now.......though I thought that the Jedi could join it. Hmm......confuzzled I am. :lol Thanks for clearing that up San. :D

Sorry, Xaz, i was thinking of The Cold and Broken Hallelujah. I'm so confused. :D Or maybe it was Marcus' blonde padawan we were waiting for. You Jedi girls all look like to me. :rolleyes

Pity. He began the NRSF. He has been around for a few years. Turned the NRSF into something sexay and desireable to be in. Lots of guns and shootings, explosions and sarcasim. Marcus' alter ego :D
IC has access to anything you need and a great deal more than that. Officially ranked as Major General. Thought dead in the sonws of Whiteton, but he's just re-appeared to take names and boot arse. Besides, I love his bad attitude. There's just something about taking a rail gun, shoving it up a perp's nose and asking if they want to continue the agument that's appealing.
Thinking this time around, a small force, about a dozen. NPC a few others to give the appearence of a bigger group. Thinking of like a specialist squad, Like say a MI6 or ASIS, or CI,e xcept with autonomy, and much smaller.

Ahh...more like, say, a commando team, then. Or internal security.
Evil Hobgoblin
Nov 11th, 2002, 11:18:13 AM
AHEM!
Yes, yes, I know this is the Hobgoblin name. Haven't I already told you that it helps to distinguish my OOC voice when I'm outside of TBH? :)
Anyway, my Pierce Tondry character falls under the New Republic's Military Intelligence: Gather and Search division. If anyone has a need for an Intelligence connection, or even some general commando or counter-terror expertise, they can give him a ring.

Same here...Me like this idea...:D And this little Force, would we use smaller faster ships, or would we do fleet actions occasionally when the situation called for it?
James Prent
Nov 11th, 2002, 11:36:16 PM
Um, is this the NRSF again? Small, elite force? Or are we talking a smaller, eliter force?
Still, that does no good against the SOVEREIGNTY, or THE BALMORRAN EMPIRE, or esp. TGE once they come back together. They are big-ish, they have fleets of a small scale, but still, capital ships are nothing to toss a thermal detonator at.
Marcus Telcontar
Nov 12th, 2002, 12:28:24 AM
Are you sure it will do no good?
Really sure?
Positive?
No, a small, force thinking outside the square will go a long, long way. Now, it will require some NPC'ing of the Republic, but it can be done.
Now, that's what I think a new squad can do - think of radical solutions to probems and execute them.

Nov 12th, 2002, 01:36:42 AM
I created a NRSF character a while back, but I never really got him off the ground because the whole NRSF scene kind of trickled away. I'd use him if things get moving again. Let me know if you want any help on this.

Nov 12th, 2002, 03:09:15 AM
NRSF is still around...just a bit leaner
Lion El' Jonson
Nov 12th, 2002, 05:10:46 AM
True. It's a good idea.
As for those fleets? Are we going to end up having them destroyed?

Nov 14th, 2002, 10:32:17 AM
I volunteer for a postion in the NRSF. I can create a new character so yeah that would be cool......

We need more fleet than NRSF.

Nov 14th, 2002, 11:19:57 AM

Reason
Nov 14th, 2002, 06:16:17 PM
Once Reason is split from Logic (if Verse would post it would go faster) and Reason gets itself fixed from the programming errors/physical damage that will result, you can borrow it for missions and stuff.
