Alana looked up at the purple sky that was a constant on Roon. It was enchanting to her vampire eye's. An endless sea of black painted by purple clouds. She waited in the old garden, where nightshade grew in abundance and specially grown roses blossomed in the twilight. A sweet scent of blood and flowers filled the air.

Alana closed her eyes as she waited for Nathan. She had a treat for him this night. She had grown to respect him in the time they had known each other. Though she had brought him to the Shrine of the Damned under duress he had stayed for reasons of his own.

Alana had not yet fed this night. Her skin was like painted marble. Her eyes glowed an unholy hue, her teeth pierced the delicate skin of her lip. A small drop of blood pooled at the tip. She could feel him getting closer. She guided him through the maze like garden, she lured him to a sweet Surrender...

Nathan had chosen not to indulge in the silk tunic that Alana had supplied him with. Instead he was wearing his worn leather jacket and shabby jeans with shirt that he felt most comfortable in. He had eaten well over the last couple days during his stay at the shrine, and after Alana had left him alone for the first time in three days he had felt a sudden urge to walk the gardens.

Plants grew there that he had not witnessed grow anywhere else in the galaxy, strange colours that seemed to reflect the picturesc sattire of a sky. The reddish purple leaves of the hedge maze darkened by the setting star, allowing wondrous shadows to be cast from the carefully trimmed organic gargoyles.

But even though he had never set foot in this maze before, he had found in unsettlingly familiar, as if he new the route to its heart. Destined to walk into the grand opening at its centre where the familiar face of his engimatic host lay waiting...

Alana felt his presence near her. Her eyes snapped open at the his scent. The sweet scent that always took her mind before she fed. The scent of humanity that he would only wear for just a little longer.

"Nathan, join me." She whispered. Her soft voice carried to his ears by the breeze. She glanced over at him. Her eyes filled with hunger. He had seen her this way before though never aimed at him. Tonight he knew they were for him alone.

"Tonight you make your choice Nathan. A choice I don't give many. " He knew what she was asking and what he would become.

"Tonight you make your choice Nathan. A choice I don't give many. " Her words hung on the night air like a stale breeze, and through the silence that followed all Nathan could hear was the feint beating of his heart. A sound that he realised that he had taken for granted up and till now.

He didn't speak, he just walked up to her and reached down for her hands, pulling the dark queen up from her seated position. For a moment he stared into her radient yet deathly stare pondering the meaning of it all.

When he swallowed he realised that his mouth had no moisture left, the course instinctive reflex caused his 'yes' to become a, "Ye..." he coughed to clear his throat and leaned forward to kiss his hostess.

As Nathan's mouth neared hers Alana smiled. She had known he would accept her dark embrace. He wanted more from life as she did than to just live and die. She let her soft lips settle gently against his. Wrapping her arms around him she pulled him closer. She nuzzled his neck with her face breathing in his scent.

Thoughts of her turning flashed through her mind. It was a bitter sweet moment for her. She was taking humanity from him and giving him eternity. She knew that some could grow to hate the ones that turned them. The blood tie would be there but resentment could grow. She was taking life and light from his world and filling it with darkness and any loss of normalcy.

She ran her lips over his neck, her teeth extending. "Watch the night Nathan it will change to your eyes." She whispered before slipping her sharp teeth into his pulsing vein. Closing her eyes she savored the taste of him...

A small prick in his neck caused him to squezze her bum tightly withon his grasp holding them together as the euphoria built within his body. The sound of a child suckling against its mothers breats came to mind as the noise of Alana's feeding overcame the sound of Nathans heart.

Suddenly the Euphoria abandoned him, fear, pain, loss and darkness threw themselves upon him like menacing creatures, tearing at his very soul. His hands went limp and Alana let him dropped from her grasp.

The earth was soft, but held no compfort. His eyes saw no beauty in the nights sky, nor in the exotic plant life that grew plentyfull over the clearing. Pain was the true constant of the universe, it was the first thing he had flet when he was born, and it was fitting in that it was all he felt now as he died...

He rolled over onto his back, unable to reach for Alan's comforting embrace, instead he just lay there a husk of what had been Nathan Vergis.

Alana bent to Nathan's fallen form. His eyes stricken with what had happened. She remembered feeling the same way. She caressed his cheek softly her eyes locking onto his. basking in the moment.

"What you see now is an empty life, cut short yes by me but had you grown old this is how you would have died, empty and alone with no chance of life eternal. Now you have a chance to see what the darkness truly holds. How sweet the night breeze can truly be." Alana pulled the small dagger from her belt and slit the side of her throat open. She gently lifted his body to her and cradled him close. "Feed Nathan and open your eyes to a new life..."

Alana's sweet warm blood filled his tastes and and coated his throat as he drunk deeply from her wound. He thought he heard his heart pound in his ears, one sigle earth shattering clang pulsed through his body. Alana dropped Nathan to the floor coughing and spluttering, his eyes steeling glances at speratic points of the universe. Everything he had learned was being unlearned, the way of life and and the way of death.

His scream was nothing more than a muted gurgle, his hands cradled his burning stomach, and his body convulsed on the garden floor. With his last breath his body fell silent, unmoving as the statues and gargoyles of the shrine.

Alana looked down at the now dead Nathan Vergis, anticipating his rebirth...

The wounds on his neck vanished with no trace, and his eyes flickered open, yellow vampyric eyes now looked upon the world. And though his former eyes felt as if no beauty could have beaten his surroundings, his new eyes laughed at the mortal memory.

Silent as a tomb, he need not breath, nor could he hear the beat of his own heart. Though he was able to look upon his Mistress of Darkness with his new vampyre eyes, and witness her beauty all over again. With an inhuman stare, he smiled a wicked imortal grin....

Alana smiled softly as his eyes scanned the night. All would be new and wondrous to him. She almost wished she could have the experience again. "Welcome to the night Nathan." She whispered softly. Extending her hand she pulled him to his feet. "Now we hunt." She wanted to show him just how sweet the life of a vampire could be.
