Oh My! (log in stuff)

It looks like, after I have cleared my cookies and done some testing that you can now log into two different names at once, all dependant upon which URL you are using for the SWFans.Net Forums.

I was able to log in with one ID at http://sw-fans.net and another ID at http://swforums.net and simply switch between the two IDs by just changing the URL of the board from one to the other. o_O

It could be considered an advantage to some of us that use multiple ID’s and it could be something that confuses many because they were once logged in with one name and when they came back to the forums they are logged in as another. It all depends on the cookies, which are associated with the URLs separately, making two individual cookies for this site.

In a way it gives us quick account switching ability between two accounts. :D

AUGH I had that problem too... I tried twice to post as Bette Davis, and both times I signed out, in, and then posted, and it posted as LD. Taylor was like "LD isn't in SS....?"

I am unable to reproduce such behavior. I am able to log in using either URL with no trouble. Not sure whats going on, maybe your browser cookies are corrupt?

I know my Jubei account is always screwy about logging in, no matter where I am, or how I do it.

We used to have a lot of database errors on the old host (probably an average of 6 a day) and it may have been that those accounts were registered when there was a database problem, thus maybe making them slightly buggy. In all the time we have been on this new host there have been no database errors, so hopefully things like this won’t occur in the future, if indeed that is the explanation.

Semi informative update to this topic:

It is actually possible to be logged in as five seperate names at once if using five seperate browser windows for the site. The URLs are as follows:

http://www.sw-fans.net/forum
http://swforums.net/forum
http://www.swforums.net/forum
http://216.73.105.30/forum

If your browser cookies are not corrupt you can be logged in with a seperate name at each URL.

So in theory I could have 25 names logged in at once considering I have 5 browsers installed. Netscape 6, Netscape 7, Mozilla, Opera, and IE. :eek Too many!

You only need these three. Netscape 6 is craptastic, and 7 has the same rendering engine as Moz.
