Sonic is definitely my favourite platformer! (Genesis/Mega Drive versions) The whole feel to the game was incredible. It was sooooo fast and it even seemed as if the screen had to catch up to Sonic at some points - especially in the tubes and on the loops in Sonic 2 on level 2 (Chemical Plant Zone).

And I thought the link-up was brilliant. I loved being able to go back through Sonic 2 and 3 as Knuckles - that was great! And if you played through Sonic 3 and got all the chaos emeralds, finished that, and then went through Sonic and Knuckles getting all the Floating Islands chaos emeralds, you could become Hyper Sonic/Knuckles/Tails. That was great! Can't actually remember what the differentce was between Hyper and Super Sonic though.

The originals were classic...the later ones were frankly shite..they went to far with it.

Hyper Sonic and Super Sonic were different in appearance. Hyper sonic ahd the blur behind him and the swirling stars. PLus, if you hit the jump button twice, a flash would appear on the screen and kill all the enemies on the screen.

Hyper Knuckles's thing was if you were gliding, and pressed the d-pad in the direction he was gliding, and you hit the wall, the screen would shake and kill all enemies on screen.

Super Tails had the homing birds that would fly after the enemies and kill them. Super Tails was the greatest.

In Sonic 3 I could get Super Sonic by Zone 2 Hydrocity. In Sonic and Knuckles, I had Hyper Sonic by Zone 4, Lava Reef. If I was lucky, I had him one Zone earlier, which was Sandopolis. Oh....I love these games. My only beef with the new Dreamcast ones is that you can't hunt down the Chaos Emeralds to become Super Sonic. Imagine it...some of the levels in the Dreamcast games were blindingly fast. Imagine doing them as Super Sonic!

I loved playing as Knuckles, or as Sonic on Sonic 2 and having someone else being Tails and just leaving them behind in the blue blurs dust :lol

Sonic 3 - Carnival Night Zone
Sonic & Knuckles - Final Level (can't remember the name)

I think I'll root out my Sonic Jam for Sega Saturn and play it :)

Yeah, I could get Super Sonic by Casino Night Act 1 in Sonic 2, and Hydro City Act 1 in Sonic 3. I used to hate the water levels, but Hydro City was amazing!

Speaking of levels - I LOVED the Ice Cap Snowboard intro!

I believe that's the inspiration for the snowboarding in Sonic Adventure 1 and Sonic Adventure 2. Could be wrong though.

he he. I loved playing as Tails in Sonic 3. flying was so cool. And when I found out that you could hit bad guys from below when you were flying, It was all over.

Sonic 3 the last level the best.
SOnic and Knuckles I liked Angel Sanctuary. or whatever that level before the death egg was called.
The mini missions in Sonic Jam were so cool.
