Sorry to hijack here, but is there any more news about the sequel to the Professional? Is it supposed to happen?

Think the company wanted Reno to return if one was maid, prequal I suppose. So, doubt it'd happen.

A prequel? I thought there were rumblings of a sequel with a grown-up Natalie Portman?

Theres what Besson wants, and what Besson will get funding to do.

Barring miracle, no sequal

boom boom :)

And JMK, the company has just said they want Reno to return. So it'd be prequal, flashbacks or bad sequal :)

I decided to split the thread in case anybody else wants to discuss this topic.

Grah, why do they have to try and make sequels to everything? Leave it alone, people!

Why do they have to make sequels & prequels you ask? Because Hollywood is completely out of original ideas. 24 was the last of the really creative, innovative things to hit the screen. Now it seems studios are walking the beaten path and sticking with things that have made them money in the past. If they're convinced that this is the only way to make money now, at least do it with cool movies.

24 is a really cool concept, and they can milk it for years, because thats the way its set up. Now granted, everyone once and a while they can come up with nice new idea (matrix, minority report, etc) but good stories are hard to ignore.

Minority Report is hardly an original idea, being that it was based off of a short story. :)

Still... I really hate when they take a good movie that stands on its own and they try to make sequels to it (see The Crow).

Oh. I was always thought it was original.

Matrix wasn't either, as I heard (but have not seen) that is it a rip off of Dark City.

It reminds me a lot of Dark City. I just pretty much think it's a "better" Dark City.

But then I need to see Dark City again and see what I think.

One thing going for Dark City...Jennifer Connelly.

The concept is similar, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it a rip-off. It had a lot of originality and definitely a style of its own.

The Matrix was basically supposed to be a comicbook / anime made liveaction.

Dark City was a moody, Tim Burton-esque movie that had more to do with questions of personality. The main theme of the movie was do our memories dictate the kind of person we are?.

The 13th Floor had a similar plot to The Matrix, but it was pretty boring and poorly executed, IMO.

LOL!! I was going to say the same thing!

P2 huh?
well, they are going to have to pull one hell of a movie off to make it good.

I was thinking of a good way to make 24 into a movie--to have a season end with 2 or 3 hours left, and show it at the movies!! That would kick ***. I think 24 is sign up for 5 seasons FYI. :crack
