He had always been quick to anger. But with his quick temper also came the ability to curb that anger. To control it. Until lately. Not that his Sith brethren would care- for most of them, uncontrolled anger was the key to power. But it bothered him. He rather liked control.

He had recently returned from a rather long trip away from Corellia. A trip that had led to answers he had never thought he would find. Answers that he’d always believed would give him peace. Instead, they’d led him on a path of destruction. And the first thing he’d done after meeting with his master was to leave again. He just needed to be away. Perhaps this was how he thought he would find a way to ground himself again.

His temper, though always threatened by the smallest things, seemed worse, and his reactions, while not uncharacteristic of a Sith, were certainly not reactions he ever would have had before.

And all because he now knew part of the story of his life.

The boy who had known himself for the past eighteen years, almost nineteen years, of his life as Sasha Kovalev, had learned that this wasn’t the case.

He had been born Alexander Donovan, son of Trent Donovan of the Templis Cult, and his wife, Ophelia. When Trent Donovan reunited with his brother, now Grand Admiral Taylor Millard, he had taken back his true name of Trent Millard. And shortly thereafter, met his death at the hands of the cult members, leaving behind an orphaned infant son and his mother. Ostracized by the cult, Ophelia fled from the unknown regions to a small, imperial controlled planet on the outer rim. It was there that she had changed her name to Katerina Kovalev, her mother’s maiden name, and raised her son by the nickname of Sasha. She had told him nothing of his father, and all of his life, he had imagined the man, hating him for what he believed, in his imagination, for him to be.

But now that he knew the truth, knew his father to have been a good man, he was angry for all the years he had been missing a father. Angry for all the years he would continue to be missing a father. Angry with the cult. Angry with the galaxy. Angry, just because it was the only thing he could feel.

He wanted revenge. But the cult members were long dead. And so now, he kept the rage and lust for revenge bottled inside, releasing it here and there on those who were unsuspecting. Those who were weaker, and didn’t live long enough to even know why they had become the victim. Perhaps this anger would lead to great things. Perhaps, it would destroy him.

But for now, it had led him to a nightclub, full of loud, heavy music. He liked hard, aggressive music. It was soothing to him, while it gave others a headache. He had been there most of the night, drinking and watching people. His demeanor, the anger that seemed to surround him had not made him approachable to anyone. And now, as the bar was closing and people were filing out, he wished he’d bothered to talk to someone. He wasn’t ready to go back to his hotel room just yet.

He hated the shoving of the crowd and could feel the anger rising within him. When one woman lost her footing in the shoving, falling just in front of him, it finally made him draw his saber, more than willing to use it on anyone who opposed him.

The orange of the blade flashed, sending people shoving even harder towards the door, but clearing a bit of space around him and the fallen woman.

(ooc: Challenge if someone wants it, or if you want to be the woman that fell, that’s cool too. Im up for whatever.)

Lillian cowered from the orange flash of the saber, having been shoved over in the bustle of the crowd. Why had she insisted upon going out this late? Even Reason, her 7 foot tall guardian, had warned against it.

"Please, don't...don't.."

Lillian coughed, blood spattering the ground.

Reason
Oct 15th, 2002, 05:56:25 PM
Reason lurked in the shadows, watching events unfold. Lillian had insisted it stay behind when she left, and it had followed her in secret here. She had been tripped in the crowd, and now a man stood over her with a lightsaber drawn. Reason bristled, igniting wrist blades an lengthening its tail. It didn't move. He hadn't attacked her...yet...

(ooc: just wanted to know which you were looking for – fight or something else. Im cool with either, but just wanted to know before I wrote much else)

IC:

The woman on the ground was coughing up blood, and she looked rather scared.

Her cry of ‘please don’t’ brought two conflicting feelings to him. The first was to bring his saber down and silence her. The anger in him cried out to be released, and this was a perfect opportunity. On the other hand, he’d been raised by a single mother, and those very words had been uttered by her time and time again when he had asked her about his father. Perhaps a protective instinct in him momentarily surfaced.

He paused, his violet eyes staring down at her. And then surprisingly, still undecided as to what he would eventually do, he held out a hand to help her to her feet.

Lillian looked at his hand, wondering if it would betray her.

"Y...you mean me no harm...?"

OOC:It depends on your actions. So far it looks like there won't be a fight, but that could change...

Zatania Duvall
Oct 15th, 2002, 06:15:05 PM
Zatania was known for watching, and as always that was what she was doing once again. This time, she was shocked to see someone who was classified as a sith helping whom he was fighting. Why?

She tilted her head curiously as she calculated in her mind, wanting to ask but thought it would be better if she let things play out as they were. Maybe there was a motive behind it. Either way, this would make for a good learning experience for her, to see more emotion and why people did certain things on the battlefield on either the winning or the losing side. Usually she had watched the weaker fall victim to what they had done, never having watched someone that was strong and the outcome coming out as a tie.

Curious... Curious indeed.

SashaKovalev

(ooc: *laughs* I can go either way. I just wasn’t sure what you’d been hoping for when you began writing.)

His violet eyes stared at her for a moment.

“Im not sure yet.” He replied in all honestly.

“But you’d be much safer on your feet than lying on the ground, either way.” He replied with a rather monotone note to his voice. It wasn’t intended, but rather it was the conflicting emotions.

He could feel the presence of others still around. And one passing nearby barely missed the impact of the orange blade. Had the Sith really wanted, he could have brought harm, but it hadnt been worth it. This woman he spoke with had his interest for the moment.

He could also feel the presence of someone familiar nearby. It wasn’t a presence he knew well, but one he had run into before. Briefly his eyes looked in the direction Zatania. His head cocked to the side almost as curiously as hers. He remembered her from a brief encounter some time ago.

And then he looked back to the woman at his feet.

“This is probably the last time Im going to offer to help you to your feet.” He stated, not unkindly, but certainly with a hint of impatience.

His orange blade still glowed brightly in the dim setting of the nightclub.

Lillian Snow

Lillian held her hand out and took his own. He hauled on her arm and dragged her to her feet.

"Th-thank you..." she said nervously.

Her last encounter with a Sith had not gone well. She wished she hadn't left Reason at the GJO...for once she missed the huge droid's prescence.

SashaKovalev
Oct 15th, 2002, 06:53:05 PM
She finally took his hand, and he hauled her to her feet. It was as he did this that he began to feel something about her. Perhaps it was her surface thoughts that she had not well concealed, or perhaps it was simply that now that others had cleared out, her presence did not mingle so much with the others.

He did not disengage his blade, but he did bring it down to his side for a moment as his violet eyes stared at her. The Sith knight noticed her nervousness, and something within him fed off of this. Her fear of him and the power that it brought only fed his lust for more.

But it seemed to worthless, so cowardly to cut down one who was so seemingly weak and unprepared.

“Perhaps you should run along while you still can.” He replied. This was not said in threat, but rather out of resignation. He was a slave to the dark side, to the feeling the power of it brought. And if she did not leave soon, his anger would threaten to overtake him.

He perhaps would have been better served as a dark jedi, for he always kept control of his emotions, but not tonight. Tonight his control was limited, and the teachings of the Sith were powerful. As a knight, they had been well ingrained in him, and he would use them.

Lillian Snow
Oct 15th, 2002, 07:01:32 PM
"Why...why..."

She coughed again, covering her face with her hands.

"Why do you want to hurt me? I have done nothing to you!"

She was more than a little afraid. The last Sith she'd encountered had tried to kill her, though she knew not why.

SashaKovalev
Oct 15th, 2002, 07:26:10 PM
His hand gripped tighter around his saber.

"Its not that I want to hurt you." He replied.

"Its that I have no way of harming those that I do wish to bring harm to." He added. His explanation was rational.

"And you happen to be standing in front of me." His violet eyes looked away, and then back to her.

"Just go." He stated, lifting his lightsaber to aim it towards some random direction in which he thought she should disappear from his sight.

Lillian Snow
Oct 15th, 2002, 07:29:48 PM
Lillian hesitated, unsure of what to do. Now was her chance to escape, but she found herself rooted to the spot she stood in. Was it fear? Worry?

"I...I'm sorry to have bothered you..."

She took a step backward, then turned to walk away.

SashaKovalev
Oct 16th, 2002, 07:19:05 AM
Her hesitation to leave only irritated him more.

It wasnt her who had bothered him originally. It had been the people around, shoving to get out of the nightclub. But now they were gone. And only she was left.

When she turned to walk away, toward the direction of the open club doors, he found himself brining his saber down upon a chair nearby. Just for the tiny feeling of satisfaction that it brought to feel his saber cutting through something. For the pure feeling that destrcution brought.

And then, just before the woman had made it to the doors, he reached out through the dark side of the force, using the anger inside him to pull the doors shut.

They closed with a loud, clanging thud. And then there was silence.

He wasnt sure what he planned to do with her, perhaps his actions had just been to feel the fear of the woman once again.

Lillian Snow
Oct 16th, 2002, 07:46:14 AM
Lillian gasped as the doors shut before her and turned to face Sasha, shrinking back against the doors, looking around for someone, anyone, to help her.

"Ohhhh....noooooo..."

She looked at him pleadingly, eyes begging for mercy...

SashaKovalev
Oct 16th, 2002, 09:30:12 AM
Did he smile at this? Perhaps he did. As she shrunk back against the door, he disengaged his saber. Not that this made him any less threatening, for he still held it in his left hand as he walked towards her.

The heels of his boots clicked as he crossed the floor, echoing in the silence of the building. The staff had apparently made themselves scarce, none of them willing to risk death or injury to protect their place of work.

Her weakness, her whining, her plea for mercy made him....sick. Weakness was something to be devoured. Respect he could deal with, but cowering before him....

As he approached her, he stopped some distance away, tapping his lightaber in the palm of his right hand.

"Why did you come here tonight?" He asked, toying with her.

Lillian Snow
Oct 16th, 2002, 11:28:17 AM
"I..I..."

He throat was dry, she found difficulty speaking, and her voice cracked as she spoke.

"I was...trying..."

Lillian shut her eyes and turned her face away, too scared to finish her sentence. Tears streamed freely down her face.

Reason
Oct 16th, 2002, 11:31:01 AM
Reason detected the stress in her voice, the adrenaline created by fear. It bristled further and crouched in the shadows, unknown to all. It's logic processors could be cruel at times; it hesitated to show her its purpose.

SashaKovalev
Oct 16th, 2002, 12:13:26 PM
Her voice cracked. Her fear surrounded her. It was like the scent of blood to a pack of hungry wolves.

Tear streamed down her face.

Sasha approached her, his steps calm and deliberate. His hand reached to cup her chin in an eerily gentle gesture, turning her head slowly back to face him.

"There is no peace, there is anger. There is no fear, there is power. There is no death, there is immortality. There is no weakness, there is the Dark Side." His voice was soft as he spoke the words of the Sith code. Words that he knew by heart and could recite on command.

"Why do you choose fear and weakness over power and the dark side?" He questioned, his violet eyes staring into hers

Lillian Snow
Oct 16th, 2002, 12:19:31 PM
She cringed and squeaked in fear as he touched her face, then looked into his eyes as he brought her face to face with him.

"No good..." she swallowed hard, finding her voice. "No good has ever come of the dark side..."

SashaKovalev
Oct 16th, 2002, 12:47:31 PM
He released her then, scoffing at her words.

"Oh hasnt it?" He asked, his voice mocking.

"And tell me, what good has come of the light side? The jedi?" He demanded, the distaste evident in his voice.

"Where are they now? Where are your jedi when you need them?" He asked.

Lillian Snow
Oct 16th, 2002, 04:31:44 PM
Lillian had no reply. The Jedi had no idea where she was. Reason was back at GJO. She was defenseless. All she could do was look into Sasha's eyes and cry, praying that she would get out of her predicament alive.

SashaKovalev
Oct 16th, 2002, 06:58:48 PM
He switched his lightaber hilt to his right hand, then held his left one up in a fist.

"You want to know what comes from the light? From not following the dark side?" He asked, his words a fierce demand.

He stepped closer to her again.

"DO you see this hand?" He growled.

"I lost my own hand for friendship with a jedi. A lying, conniving jedi..." He snarled.

Lillian Snow
Oct 16th, 2002, 07:04:03 PM
Lillian shrieked as he held his fist in her face.

"Please...I...I'm sorry!" she pleaded.

SashaKovalev
Oct 16th, 2002, 07:11:33 PM
Her screams echoed in his ears and he backed away.

His lightsaber he returned to his left hand and ignited it, bringing it crashing down upon a nearby column in anger. The blade hummed as it tore through the surface.

And then Sasha turned back to Lillian.

"What are you sorry for?" He asked, the snarl leaving his voice as he calmed down a bit.

Her terror was almost enough for him. What he wanted, what he would need to release this anger was a challenge, not an overly simple slaying of someone too weak to defend themselves. A challenge, this woman seemingly could not, and would not provide.

"Besides your ignorant comment about what can or does come from the dark side...." He added, his violet eyes staring momentarily at the orange blade before he disengaged it and looked back to the womanwith the tears streaming down her face.

Lillian Snow
Oct 16th, 2002, 07:16:38 PM
Lillian covered her face as he struck the pillar and coughed. She ducked down into a ball and panicked, forgetting where she was, that she was alone with a Sith that meant to kill her. She cried out for someone, anyone, to come to her aid. The first name that came to her mind was...

"REASON!" she sobbed, "HELP!"

Reason
Oct 16th, 2002, 07:18:31 PM
Reason burst from the shadows, wrist blades glowing white, tail streaming behind it. It dealt Sasha a fierce blow, staggering the Sith, and moved to block him from Lillian.

No harm will come to Lillian Snow.

SashaKovalev
Oct 16th, 2002, 07:23:29 PM
He raised an eyebrow at her shriek for help.

Who was she calling out to?

He hadnt felt the presence of another, and the blow that came sent him staggering back.

Ahhhh...so she had a protector. And one who would provide some entertainment, it seemed.

His orange blade sparked to life again.

"No, no harm will come to her." He replied, a slight smile of amusement on his features.

"But I cant guarantee your health." He added with all the cockiness of a sith knight.

Reason
Oct 16th, 2002, 07:37:49 PM
Reason's shoulders slid open, revealing several laser batteries. It settled its crosshairs on Sasha and opened fire with a lightning-fast volley of blasts.

SashaKovalev
Oct 16th, 2002, 07:58:51 PM
Certainly he cursed as he realized he was to be fired upon. It was fortunate for him that he had so much anger bottled inside, for calling upon the darkside came a bit easier, and enabled him the speed needed to bring his lightsaber up.

He sent a blast through the force towards the seven foot tall protector, intended to knock him off balance and knock the shots off target.

Several of the bolts went wild, and the few that were on target the young sith turned away with his saber. He had faced this before, for it was the popular attack mechanism for bounty hunters - a few of which he'd had the delightful occasion to face.

Reason
Oct 16th, 2002, 08:03:55 PM
Reason regained its balance, sizing up Sasha. Logic programming processed, then came to a decision. Reason burst forward once more, attacking with its wrist blades. Its tail curled around from behind to snare Sasha's feet, tripping the Sith and making him more susceptible to the lightblades.

SashaKovalev
Oct 16th, 2002, 08:13:33 PM
Though he had battled before with the lizard in the Sith Order, one with a mighty tail, he had forgotten about the tail of this creature. He landed with a solid thud, the wind almost being knocked out of him.

But pain was of little consequence. He had been taught to accept pain. Lord Dyzm, his former master, had shown him this - forced him to endure pain through a lesson so that it was now second nature to do this.

He rolled away, just before the tail swung again, and scrambled to his feet.

His anger was increasing now, he could feel it building, fueling his connection with the darkside. The force ran through his veins as his blood did. He could nearly taste it on his lips.

He tugged on the force, using the strenth of it to throw a chair, and then a table in the direction of Reason. Enough to try to distract Lillian's protector for a moment.

Reason
Oct 16th, 2002, 08:21:59 PM
Reason's tail shattered the chair, and it moved quickly to catch the table, not quite successful in this endeavor as the edge of it dented the droid's armor. Reason planted its feet and ground to a halt, then threw the table aside with some difficulty, fighting Sasha's Force push. It stepped forward and turned its head to check on Lillian, then looked back to Sasha. Logic processed: This man may be seeking to fight it, rather than hurt Lillian. Logic processed further: It had no reason to fight such a battle.

I will not fight for my own gain. Back down.

Salemn Lysce
Oct 16th, 2002, 08:26:14 PM
Unknown to Lillian, Salemn had followed her Padawan to the night club with distaste, ignoring the jostling bodies and the music that pounded. She stood in the corner, dressed in the usual traditional brown robes of a Jedi, with the hood drawn up. She didn't move when Lillian was thrown down and the crowd parted at the Sith's saber, or when he began to talk of the Darkside. She merely observed with dis-satisfaction, waiting for the right moment. It was when the giant robot, Reason, began to attack Sasha did she move.

< Lillian ! >

The voice was clear and demanding, holding that of authority as Salemn strode out next to the girl. She was still curled up into a ball, trembling with fright.

< Lillian .. You disappoint me. A Jedi shall not know fear. >

Her brown eyes pierced Lillian before they softened.

< But you have yet to learn that lesson. Stand - I will get you out of here. >

She turned her head and looked at the Sith Knight and Reason, watching them battle. Hopefully, he would be distracted enough for Salemn and Lillian to slip by unnoticed.

Lillian Snow
Oct 16th, 2002, 08:29:38 PM
Lillian looked up at Salemn, fighting back tears.

"I...I..."

The sounds of screeching metal drew her attention to where Reason stood in defiance of Sasha, determined to defend her.

"I..." her voice trailed off, she had no reply to Salemn, either...

SashaKovalev
Oct 16th, 2002, 08:33:32 PM
The presence of another, one who had clearly been masking herself suddenly became known to him through the force. SHe had moved, had been distracted enough to let down her senses. It was quite draining to do such a thing, and nearly impossible, except by the greatest of masters to continue when distracted.

Her voice rang out through the silence as she scolder her...padawan?

The young knight almost smiled in amusement. So the jedi were recruiting even the weak now....this was nearly laughable.

And would have been had he not had the amusement of the droid before him.

"Back down?" He repeated, rolling his eyes.

"Werent you the one who made the first attack?" He retorted.

"So.......unbecoming of the protector of jedi" He nearly spat the word jedi, his hatred ringing clear in his tone.

She could feel the the scorn emitting from the Sith as she glanced back at him, realizing he had heard her mental voice. Being a mute, she had to 'speak' through the Force and had forgotten to direct it only to Lillian. Silently cursing, Salemn bent over and offered Lillian a hand to take and help herself up. There was no telling what the Sith might do in his anger, and all of her senses were alert in case he tried anything to her or Lillian.

Reason
Oct 16th, 2002, 08:40:01 PM
Reason didn't care one whit about the Jedi code. It wasn't programmed to. Nor was it programmed to bicker. It retracted its tail, withdrew its wrist blades, and coved its lasers. Sasha had no interest in Lillian so far as it could tell, and Lillian's master had come for her. As far as Reason was concerned, it's work was finished here.

SashaKovalev
Oct 17th, 2002, 09:03:31 AM
The Sith watched as blades and tail were retracted and lasers disappeared from sight. Not bad, for a droid....he thought to himself. Not that he would ever take one lightly - he never took an opponent lightly. To do so would surely be a mistake. A mistake he would not live to make a second time if made with the wrong foe.

And then he looked to Salemn and Lillian. Lillian still looked just as pathetic as she had before, huddled in fear. And the jedi who had come for her...

Perhaps you should keep a better eye on your padawan. Next time she might not live to see your lesson on not knowing fear... His thoughts were directed to Salemn, and they were taunting, but that was the extent. He wasnt foolish enough to pick a fight with a jedi and a well armed droid at once.

Idly, he lifted his lightsaber, the blade humming in the silence between the figures in the room.

< As much as you hope it's possible, I'm afraid that's only a dream you possess. >

She glared at him, defying his words silently until a grin spread on her face. He lusted for something to tear apart; Something to release his anger on and destroy, shredding its beauty to nothing. The Jedi Knight remained bending over, her blond hair toussled slightly from earlier's "excitement".

< Your anger is your weakness, and like all Sith you give in to Chaos. The only thing that surprises me most is that you did not strike down at Lillian when you had the chance - but perhaps unlike the rest of your brethren, you do not possess the same arrogance. >

SashaKovalev
Oct 17th, 2002, 04:58:53 PM
He nearly snorted in contempt with her words of it being only a dream. Hardly was it his dream to take the lives of those who were no challenge to defeat. Had he known earlier that Lillian was a padawan....perhaps his actions would have been different. Perhaps not.

He watched as her glare turned into a grin. To say he wasnt at all distracted by the fact that she was bending over Lillian, her blond hair slightly tousled would have been a lie. He was, afterall, a young man, and young men had those thoughts - whether it was a jedi he was looking at or not.

He shook his head. He cared little for what the jedi thought of his anger. As a sith, he knew it to be the key to power.

So this he did not bother to answer. But what surprised her...he smiled at this.

Its not her I'm angry with He replied quite simply. It might have explained why he had not killed Lillian when he'd had the chance, but it hardly explained why he had terrorized the poor girl instead.

It wasnt arrogance. He was too humble a kid for this. It was anger. Pure anger that had had no other direction to go.

He finally disengaged his lightsaber. The only thing he'd really wanted out of the night was some sort of distraction from himself. And that, Lillian, her protector, and her jedi master had provided, if only for a short period of time. He allowed these thoughts to float on the surface, perhaps even gave them a nudge in Salemn's direction.

He turned and began walking into the darkness of the nightclub, turning only for a moment to look back at Lillian, his violet eyes glittering in the odd lighting of the club.

"Sweet dreams, Lillian..." He stated, the way he spoke her name making it sound as if he would see her again. As if just knowing her name were a threat to her.

"Perhaps the next time we meet, your master will have made you a worthy opponent...." He added.

< He was only looking for amusement, Lillian. >

And, as much as she hated to admit, the girl had played her role perfectly. As for the Sith's name .. He hadn't revealed his identity, and she didn't probe into his mind at all. It seemed, however, that he probed into Lillian's mind, extracting her name.

< This won't be the last time we meet. >

It was directed to his retreating form as a sigh escaped her lips. Yes, Lillian's training would harden, proving to be more difficult as each second passed. Salemn was a perfectionist, and she would not have herself and padawan ridiculed like this.

Reason took Lillian into its arms.

Ally designate: Salemn Lysce. We will follow you home.

It cradled Lillian, allowing her to cry on its mechanical shoulder. Reason shoved open the door with tail and walked into the street, and the group headed back to GJO.
