"Lady luck, shes calling for me...."

That was all that could be heard on the top floor of TriOptimum's office building. In the office of CEO Ryu Warusa, sat Jerred Rez TriOptimum's Head of Security, and Nichi Venerus Ryu's personal assistant. Ryu had called a meeting to discuss "important" plans.

"Lady luck, shes calling for me. Can't you hear her call, Jerred?"

He didn't answer. Odds were that he didn't hear anything, their was nothing to hear short of Ryu's inane ramblings. The fast paced business world had had its effect on him and he was beginning to go insane, but he still remained the hopeless romantic.

"That's it, you're all going with me to Adarlon."

***

A week later they were on Adarlon and Ryu and Jerred were standing in front of the King's Heart casino. Ryu was back in his blue suit that he hadn't wore since his days in the Vagrant Order. Jerred wore his usual coat lined with enough weapons to take out a platoon of Imperial Stormtroopers. A few people were loitering outside of the casino staring at Jerred. Most likely because of tall the bulges in his coat and his odd spectacles.

Something was off about Ryu. They had been partners for a long time - in fact, Jerred lost count of how many times they had cheated one another out of a share. In the end it all seemed to even out. They hadn't really needed to work very hard for their pay since they took TriOptimum for themselves. Money came pouring in, and they took care of the paper work.

Maybe it was a little dull, but at least it paid. Ryu didn't see it that way. He had spiraled into a vicious cycle of alcoholism and spice-abuse. As Jerred followed him into the King of Hearts casino, he knew that something was about to change forever. What it was though, he didn't know.

(I was sitting on a pair of sixes, but you'd never know it from the other side of the table.)

I'll see your seven...and raise you ten.

(The fallout was spectacular)

Frell!

Too rich for my blood!

I'm out!

Me too!

(One man hesitated, and I raised an eyebrow at him)

Well...are you in or out?

(I took another drink, nonchalant as ever...watching the man from behind my raised glass. He made eye contact...and blinked)

No? I didn't think so. Good call, kid.

(From the way he clenched his jaw after the fold, I knew he was holding onto something alot bigger than a pair of sixes, but I'd made him really question it. And another pot went to me. I slid the chips to my side of the table, leaving just enough ante for entrance)

We entered the casino and were immediately consumed by bright lights. A sharp contrast to the lots and alleys outside. Aliens of many races gambled here for their lives... this was after all a human casino. A laugh escaped as I noticed a large green fellow was being escorted out.

"Well? Where shall we start?"

I looked upon the green goggled gentlemen beside me for advice as to our first con.. I mean er game.

(The next three consecutive hands were to draw blood into the table. The trick isn't to win big. The trick is to know when to win big. I'd let loose the heavy artillery, and cleaned out the better play. Now...I was going to lose. Not by much...but just enough to put blood in the water. Once I could draw players in, hoping to make a quick win...is when I could lead them on.)
