Welcome to the staff Lilaena and Taylor. :)

Okay here go the basics, which all RP mods should probably glance over and add in their two cents on things they may disagree with and or things I may have left out. I never really did this with any of the other mods, but I think a little refresher for us all is a good idea.

Basic duties:

Enforce the guidelines set forth in the General and RP FAQs.
Keep topics in their appropriate places. Such as closed RPs in the ST forum, open RPs in the RP forum, test threads in the Misc forum, and OOC/Advertising topics in the OOC forum. No exclusively OOC posts are allowed in the RP forum within threads (split and move time). Please do not leave move redirects in the RP or ST forums, use the auto author notify option when moving.

Enforce signature size limitations. Periodically check signature file sizes by checking the image’s properties in Internet Explorer. We normally allow 32000 bytes, which is a touch over 31 KB, anything beyond, please edit the post, uncheck the sig box, and input the reason for edit as a request to reduce their signature file size. If a member persists in using a signature that is beyond the limits please report such by starting a topic here or contacting me via PM, so that other steps can be taken, such as signature probation. You are free to contact the member via PM about it if you wish but warnings in post’s edit reason line are sufficient.

Do what you can to help resolve conflicts. This includes when a member accuses another of god-moding, and any other conflict. I know it’s a broad and difficult thing to always do successfully, but we all try do what we can to help keep people from getting ugly. If a topic gets out of control, do not hesitate to close it. Its your call whether you wish to post a reason for topic closure or not. Posting a reason for closure is not mandatory, but letting the other mods know why in here if you do not post a reason is a good idea so that we are all on the same page.

Be alert and ready to react appropriately if a new member or current member starts posting pornography or lewd language. Such things are grounds for immediate banning, but I do request that any such posts or topics they may make be moved here as evidence and again so that we are all on the same page.[/list]There are others but they aren’t coming to me at the moment. The points mentioned are the bulk of the workload. The “crash course” topics that I am sure many of you have seen are good sources of information on how to use your mod abilities.

RP moderators have complete board wide moderator abilities, meaning that you will be able to see invisible users (the ones with the asterisk next to their name) in all forums and you will be able to use your post and topic functions of split, merge, edit, move, and delete in all forums. This is to help out in situations where a lewd poster pops up, so that they can be quickly dealt with. RP mods also have the ability to see IP addresses within the Who’s Online activity screen as well as being able to see invisible users there(also signified with an asterisk). This is helpful for watching the activity of lewd posters and or problematic posters.

Moderators do have the ability to ban by IP but I would recommend against it in most situations, unless it is absolutely required. If it is please do so by adding the first three sets of digits from the posters IP into the list of banned IPs. To get an IP number from a domain name IP in Who’s Online use a DOS command window. (Click “Start” – “Run” then type “command” and press enter. At the > prompt type the “tracert” command followed by a space and then input the domain name. A typical tracert command will look something like this:
C:\WINDOWS>tracert dnvr252.dslgw1poolh1.dnvr.uswest.net

Tracing route to dnvr252.dslgw1poolh1.dnvr.uswest.net [67.40.150.253]Followed by several hops to get to the destination. Once you have the line that says “tracing route to”, which includes the IP address you can press and hold your CTRL key and press the C key to terminate the trace since you have what you need, the IP address. In my example it is one of mine at 67.40.150.253. Just input the first three sets of numbers in the area for banning IP addresses in your mod CP and I would be banned when I have that IP. To close the DOS command window type the command “exit”.

If you come across a situation where you need help please don’t hesitate to contact another mod or an available administrator for assistance. We are a team after all and are here to help each other and our community out.
