RE the piracy topic in OOC, about the Portal

If we have that, we should remove all TF.N images from the Portal. It feels hypocritical to say dont steal, but then steal other peoples efforts for another board.





And if they find out, that could screw us. I remember a person who stole them and said they were his. As well as his board being flooded with complaints, we garnered absolutely np respect, and damaged his boards rep.

They can't claim copyright on those pictures though. They are property of Lucasfilm and as such are covered in our copyright statement.

TF.N used to copy/paste news from other boards. That got them shedloads of stick, and a loss of respect. EVen though they changed, they still get that. Do we want this?

I highly doubt there will be any complaints over the use of those images. We did not copy their implementation at TF.N, we are using them for a different purpose. Had we copied their implementation I would agree with you.

Well, it should be little trouble creating something similar. There are plenty of photo/paint -shop experts on this board, I could perhaps make something? Doubt the current implementation of the above images would become an issue though

I made that topic because Dyzm PMed me, extremely upset that I closed his thread. He first claimed that it wasn't piracy, then said that he felt he was being singled out. After explaining to him most of the things I said in that post, he understood and graciously apologized. I figured it was best to get that out of the way and make sure everyone knows the policy on that.
