Im kind of new to the GJO but from the starwars movies(manly the second one) that relationship is not in the " Jedi code".

So........can somone please clear this up for me because im confused about it all, I mean like girl friends, marriage, so forth and so one.

It seems to be allowed here.

There was a rather interesting thread about this in the Temple Avalon a while ago. Perhaps it could be moved to the Arcan IV Trading base so I could link to it?

Follow the EU, and they're allowed again. THe order that didnt allow relationships (Sex is fine), is DEAD. And remember, that seems to be part of the reason it DID die.

Rognan, there are a few threads on this in the Temple you might want to read. EU is crap anyway, but we have discussed this and concluded that relationships are fine, but a committment to the Jedi Order must come first.

:: Thinks ::

Yeah okay, I'll move the better of the discussion out into the open. It was a really good one that went through this topic quite well.

I disagree. Part of the reason it did die (in fact, arguably the only reason) was because a relationship went on behind their backs. What you're saying makes sense, Fett. But I tend to think of Jedi as a monastic group.

This as the best discussion and it goes through the points, pros and cons really well.

You missed the IMO, of course :)

No IMO needed. EU is crap except for a select group of books.

I figured he'd just name the kid LOTR or Frodo, regardless of its sex. ;)

Marcus Telcontar
Sep 16th, 2002, 06:05:03 PM
Frodo? I dont think so.

Aragorn if it's male

Arwen if it's female.

Well I just read the link you gave me Marcus, but in my own opinion, Jedi should just not get invovled with each other. It just seems to make more proplems.

For one I wasn't thinking of getting hooked up, but like if two people where SO in love with the other, than yes thay could get together.

I have a Idea that if thay love each other that thay should not see the other for a number of time, not be alone that sort of thing, and see if thay really do love each other.

Also, I remember some problematic IC relationships in the past. Anyone remember Xanatos and Rebecca? I was having trouble trying to see who switched sides more often: Them, or Alpha. :)

Personally, I tested the waters and found them to be too cold for my tastes.

Verse Dawnstrider

I did as well for the most part. Verse was tied down once. I will not lie. Some good came out of it. Chaos came out of it.

As for X and Rebbecca...........that was just strange. "I am Jedi....I am not Jedi....wait, I am.....never mind I am Sith" then Rebbecca just killed off her char. Life is funny.

Morgan Evanar
Sep 16th, 2002, 07:38:38 PM
I dunno... it really depends. Morgan got burned pretty bad from the whole relationship thing for a while. It certainly was an interesting plot, but to further the character the former relationship it was impossible to continue.

Im with Verse! If you have twins (heaven help you! :)), you must name them Fuzzy Foot and Frodo! :)

As far as the IC relationships, youve got to have a good blend of personalities and really know each other for one to truly work. Back at TC, the 7th of October this year would have made two years for Daiq and Hawk being together. He and I had a great relationship. We talked about everything in our lives, both IC and OOC. Its been a while now since we have talked and I miss him. :(

But......it can work.

Mark - What if you have two kids, a boy and a girl.. do you really want to name them Arwen and Aragorn?

Dark Lord Dyzm
Sep 17th, 2002, 02:04:45 AM
Personally, naming them after 2 charachters who are romanticly involved in movies sounds more like a deep southern thing... It might cause some troubles when they are older. Thats if its a boy/girl twin thing. If its double boys, call them Aragorn and Gandalf. Double Girls, Arwen and whatever,

Twins run in my family, but... being a guy, it cuts the chances in half. But if I do have twins, I would call them Zeke and Zane

Daiquiri Van-Derveld
Sep 17th, 2002, 07:09:07 AM
There werent twins anywhere in my family. Guess I started a new tradition, lol. ;)

And now for the Mothers' Curse.........may my daughters have children just like them!

lol, they'll have to have twins themselves to do that. :D

I am openminded about it but had two failed IC relationships in the past, far past. However, I would never portray a Jedi if I could not be openly human or expressive. Is that a contradiction or what?! ;)

Ryla Relvinian
Sep 18th, 2002, 01:01:24 AM
I tend to agree... I keep my char single for various reasons. One, I am involved in real life and since he won't come RP here I can't see anyone else who I would want to even IC be involved with. It's just too... wierd. Secondly, my char has been widdowed previously and still isn't really over that 100%. She tends to go much more for the monastic (what would the feminine version of that be? Nunastic?) Jedi lifestyle.

And with naming children... It's just SAD, SICK, and furthermore WRONG to name your children oddly. If you are really intent on an unusual name give it to them as a middle name, please, for the benefit of all of their future teachers, employers, and even them when they decide to hate you forever because of their name. I've seen it, and it ain't pretty. That's what my dood and I want to do when we have kids... normal first name and interesting middle name, like Sabriel or Arwen for girls or something equally amusing for boys.

Marcus hates EU wow thats surprising lol. :rolleyes

now to the person that said callista was the worst part of the EU I should whap you up side the head.

As the jedi thing yeah the old ways are dead because of luke and now in MO I think the current jedi are more like dark jedi.

Also i would like to say one thing to marcus because I think he was the one that complained about it back in the day but I could be wrong the fact that sith travel in twos, bane made that rule but not every sith group followed that rule because not every sith group followed bane.

Come here Blade, for even considering supporting EU Callista I shall now beat you up with a clue by four. Callista IS the worst of the EU, which is saying something, because the Thong stink like a week old nappy.

And no actually, I dont believe I have ever said the current Sith should go like animals to Noah's ark, two by two's in the dim dark past. - It was quite clear Sith did have groups a long long time ago. It's interesting that Sith groups tend to self destruct over time, it reflects what would happen and did happen a few times in the Star Wars timeline. Tho, some peole HAVE said that.

It would be interesting to see someone play the two by two Bane rule. Dunno if it would work in a RP setting.

Bah

I wasn't 100% possitive it was you I just thought it could have been you because you know allot about SW and I knew the person was from the GJO.

I don't think the two by two rule would work to well.

Yes... I remember Alpha's switching diesease. He was even in TSC for a bit.

He Alpha, remember that Gungan Cook Off I had, and then you got into alot of trouble for eating Gungans? That was during the time TGC was still part of the SWfans Universe. Good Times... Yummy Times... and now, Gungans are Extinct.

The only EU Books I read often are the X-Wing. The Rogue Squadren X-Wing Series, the Wraith Squadren stuff is boring, and just seems to mimic the others. Corran Horn, in my opinion, is the best EU Charachter ever. He actually has a good story.
