Yeah we'll see about the Niners losing to Denver. Boy would that suck. I know some people are totally convinced that Denver is magically better, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Pretty strange weekend... the first big upset weekend usually doesn't happen until week 4 or 5... that was certainly reflected in a lot of the picks. I'm glad I went 12-4 last week...
JonathanLB
Sep 16th, 2002, 12:17:16 AM
I was just trying to get them all wrong. Really! :) I wasn't even trying to do well, I intentionally picked the losing teams, so actually I was more like 11-4. So ha. I did the best because I knew these teams would lose and I picked them, if I had just picked the teams that would win, I would have been 11-4.
I'm just kidding. ;) LOL.
My god... what a horrible week. I am thinking of quitting altogether. I just have fallen too far behind and I'm getting my butt kicked.
I really follow football closely too, so this is disappointing. I did well the last time we had predictions. I mean, 59.6% or so anyway as I recall.
I am going to start flipping a coin from now on. :)

Wow that looks like the record the Lions are hoping to have before they go into the final game of the season! What a coincidence! :)

Sep 16th, 2002, 12:46:16 AM
I wouldn't worry about it... I didn't do much better at 5-10... and considering that the best record for the day was 9-6, I think everyone got messed up this week...
I just hope the Eagles win on MNF...

Don't worry JLB, ater just two weeks its easy to get back in, man this week was ugly though, 10 road teams won. Lots of tough to call games and it seems most people just went the wrong way with it. I had 4 games that were lost in the 4th quarter so I could have pushed a 10-5 instead, oh well :)

Wow, you're not kidding, this was one UGLY weekend. But the Dolphins did win again, and Ricky ran wild, so all is good! :D

Hey, Sene, our miserable picks aside, SCREW everyone! Only the Dolphins matter!;)
JonathanLB
Sep 16th, 2002, 05:02:37 PM
Well I definitely wouldn't have bet against the Dolphins this week. After their impressive first week, I used that as my reason to pick 'em this last weekend, and I got that ONE right, yay, haha.
The Niners were the most disappointing. I really don't want to talk about it except to say: great defensive effort, such a bad offensive effort that the defense didn't look so good giving up 24 points (and they were mostly the OFFENSE'S fault because they kept giving the defense such horrible field position and they kept them on the field far too long). Get the running game working again. It's terrible. The passing looks like something from a red shirt freshman in college, not an experienced Pro Bowler. Penalties, penalties, penalties...
Vikings were going to win that game, ugg, that was a shame. I wouldn't have picked differently if I had it to do over because I think the Vikings are the better team, but that day they certainly were not.
Patriots are better than I give them credit for, hehe, I'll start picking them versus most teams. They are way better than the lousy Rams, who can't even beat Denver or the Giants (BOTH of which are shaping up to be good football teams too...).

And I thought I did horrid...

My fantasy team did good as well... last I checked scored 100 to my opponents 50some...

I CANNOT believe I took the Redskins to win this game. This is a total joke! Where's Steve Spurrier's vaunted offence? They didn't even show up! The Redskins do not deserve another appearance on MNF ever again! ;) What a stinker they put tonight!

well being 50% right is not that bad!
Well I tried to tell you about my birthday pick, for some reason the cowboys win on September 15th most of the time:) Than again, I do understand most of ya woiuld not bet on them if your life counted on it. What a strange, but fun week for football. I hope this up comming week will show to be just as fun!

D'oh....in a 4 way tie for seventh place....must pick better this week!
Problems with the Redskins, well once they get a real QB they'll be much better, Matthews and Wuerfel are bargain basement guys. They got that rookie Ramsey and maybe if they do bad enough he'll get some play early this year and be dangerous next year.

Well I'm only in fourth place.....I gotta do better next week. This is usually how it goes though. We are surprised the first and second week by teams that are supposed to lose....like the Bears last season, and we just make adjustments. There is still a long season ahead of us. Gotta love the NFL.
Oh and JMK.....GO DOLPHINS!!!!!!

Hey I like Fiedler. I think he has what it takes to move Miami to the Super Bowl.....escpecially with the addition of Williams. It gives Fiedler more options in the passing game because teams have to be careful of Ricky's running ability.
JMK
Sep 17th, 2002, 09:22:18 PM
I'm not that confident of Fiedler, but he's our pony, and we'd might as well ride him. They're not getting anyone new.
jjwr
Sep 18th, 2002, 07:20:54 PM
The Dolphins really haven't played and great defenses yet so its tough to gauge how good their offense will be. The lions....well the Kittens pretty much rolled over and the Colts still need a lot of work.
Give em a few weeks and you can probably get a better idea of how they'll do, they got the Jets this week and they've lost 8 straight to the Jets and down the road they'll be playing the Pats, so some good tests for them.
