I just used my sound recorder to send a recording to someone that needed voices for a cartoon. It worked just fine and I got the part. But now the sound recorder is broken. I need to fixed and I tried everything. :( The mic is new, so I don't think thats broken. I downloaded some other sound recorder to see if it'd work better, but thats when everything went haywire. Any ideas?

Give it time. I think all the computer buffs are in bed. :lol Just chill. You'll get a response that helps eventually!

Operating System (Windows version?) and what kind of soundcard?
Also, try enabling the mic gain (boost) in the sound card volume controls. Of course, double check for stupidity and make sure the mic is plugged into the correct place.

Also, make sure you don't have the Mic Input volume muted. (By default, it is). It's happened to me before.

O.o Could you explain that in plain english? I'm not a computer expert so I don't know how to do that. It's plugged in and I have a HP Pavilion mx70(if that even matters).

Click on the little yellowish speaker on the bottom right of your taskbar. If its not there then you will have to click on start, settings, control panel, sounds, and then audio devices.
Someone else explain it... have to go to class....

Okay I can hear myself talking in it now, BUT now it's crackling. How can I fix that?

Turn the mic volume down a bit?

If I do that I can't hear my voice at all. My voice is very faint and the crackling is extremely loud.
