Clones Hits IMAX Screens Nov 1st
Mon, Sep 09, 02 02:52:34 PM EDT

The official site has announced that the IMAX version of AOTC will hit screens in the US & Canada on November 1st:
This is not just the projection of the standard theatrical print on an IMAX screen -- the movie will undergo the revolutionary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) process, which enhances the quality of the image and soundtrack to the huge IMAX 15/70 format. This marks the first time IMAX DMR has been used to re-master a film that was digitally captured and created.

When do you get the DVD? I thought the UK gets it 1 day before North America? Meaning the 11th of Nov?

Excellent - There is an IMAX pretty close to me - I sure hope they show it here - I'm there dude...

So I must plan a trip to the states this holiday season!

Well, there's actually an IMAX theater not far away from me, so I'll most likely try to catch AOTC one more time. ;) After all, we have to make our grandkids think we're absolutely nuts by telling them how many times we saw SW in theaters.

Ack!!!!!

They're cutting 23 minutes from the Imax version of the movie because the Imax platform can only support 120 minutes!

What do you want to see them cut? I wouldn't mind seeing the fireplace scene axed, in part, but aside from that, I can't think of anything off the top of my head that I wouldn't mind seeing cut, except maybe for the sequence where they travel as refugees. It would go from when Windu tells them to leave, right to when they arrive at Padme's home.

How are they going to do this without butchering the story? But on the other hand, let's be honest, we're seeing AotC Imax for the grandeur, the picture and the effects, not the quiet, slow moving story points. I would expect the slower moments to be gone.

I am guessing those, and there are probably a few others as well. As long as they don't cut any of the action scenes I think it will be okay.

you lose the last 23;)

Lose the end credits... Its not 23 minutes of course, but its a start and half the people don't even watch them.

That's a good idea, but are they allowed to do that?

No, iirc

JMK

Didn't think so. I was thinking that maybe Lucas could because its entirely his movie, and that's why there's no credits at the beginning of his movies.

CUT THE CREDITS!!!!!!

ReaperFett
Sep 17th, 2002, 01:13:09 PM
The credits at the start angered the directors guild (Its because his name isnt there thrice or something IIRC). To have no credits would upset everyone :)

Not me - it means more action and good stuff they can leave in the movie... Although I can understand why they wouldn't go for that...

Everyone that maters McBain, not viewers :)

You would think they could make an exception this one time. If they think anyone is going to see it at an IMAX for anything else but to be blown away, then they're sick upstairs.

ReaperFett

they could speed them up :)

Yeah like they do on TV let them go by in less than a minute :)

Do that with the rolling in the grass scene too :)

Theforce.net just reported that the theater close to me is playing Clones on IMAX... I'm there dude!!!

I still haven't gotten word on my theater yet. I called and the guy was about to argue with me. Here's how the conversation went more or less:

Me: "Hi, I'm calling to find out if you're getting Attack of the Clones on your Imax screen on November 1st"

Them: "Uh...we played AotC all summer, it's coming out on DVD in November".

Me: "Yes I know that, but it's being re-released in IMAX format, at least in the states, and I'm wondering if you're getting it too."

Them: "Oh, ok, hold on a second please sir.....

*I'm on hold for about 2 minutes*

"....Sir? The next Star Wars movie comes out in 2005."

:eek :headbash

Me: "Yes, I know that, but the one that was out this summer IS being re-released this November to Imax theaters, and all I want to know is if you're getting it"

Them: "Hold again please"

*Another 30 seconds*

Them: "No, we don't know anything about it, we haven't received a memo about it yet."

Me: "Ok thanks alot."

*click*

Can you believe that? "The next Star Wars movie comes out in 2005!" What a bunch of un-informed tools!

If he isnt a SW fan, and hasnt been told, why would he know?

It's not the fact that he told me about Episode 3 in 2005. It's that I made emphasis on the IMAX release that comes out next month. And he still found it necessary to tell me about 2005.

Well, what I am waiting for is any word about international release.. I would hope and think the domestic release becomes a huge success in order for an international release to follow.

Hey, you never know, the cuts may be so brutal that you may not even want to see it! We'll let you know how it goes! ;)

Thx, I will follow your reports with great anticipation. I would probably have loved it though, because I am a huge IMAX fan, and seeing SW on the BIG screen is a dream of mine :)

I'll have to see it at the Imax near me ASAP. In fact, there are 2 near me, but 1 only does Educational movies.
As long as they don't touch any of the fight scenes or the last scene, I'll be happy.
