Varonat
Located in the backwater Ison Corridor, Varonat is an isolated, sparsely-populated world of jungles, plains, and mountains. A few thousand colonists live in two main settlements: Tropis-on-Varonat among the pale yellow trees of the Great Jungle, and Edgefields-on-Varonat on the wide plains at the jungle's edge. About 50,000 Morodins-- intelligent, fifteen meter-long lizard-slugs-- inhabit the Great Jungle. The Morodins' bodies produce a nutrient slime that, when spread over crops, encourages growth and produces new strains of plant life. Morodins leave their slime trails in a complex, maze-like pattern.
One thousand years before the formation of the Old Republic, a group of Morodins arrived on Varonat to start an agricultural colony. They transformed a vast section of plains into the Great Jungle, and used immense organic starships to transport food back to their home planet. When an ecological disaster befell their homeworld, the Morodins on Varonat were stranded and forgotten. 250 years ago, Adarian Tropis and a group his idealistic followers left Salliche to colonize Varonat. They planted their crops in the Great Jungle, but when the Morodins began leaving slime trails over the crops the colonists drove the creatures off as pests. After the Battle of Endor, a Krish named Gamgalon arrived in Tropis-on-Varonat and began running private Morodin-hunting safaris. These safaris were actually a cover for the harvesting of Yagaran aleudrupe plants, whose berries (when fertilized by Morodin nutrient slime) act as a catalyst for boosting blaster firepower-- much like the spin-sealed tibanna gas of Bespin. The local Imperial governor allowed the illegal safaris to continue since Gamgalon provided him with a share of the profits. Mara Jade, under the name Celina Marniss, worked as hyperdrive mechanic in Gamgalon's organization before joining up with the smuggler Talon Karrde in an adventure on Varonat.

Subject : Ideas on situation

As i see it we have 3 Choices. Destroy the Morodians , Destroy the Yagaran aleudrupe plants and all means to grow them, or
Make arrangement to procure all Yagaran aleudrupe Berry product produced.

The later seems impractical because as you know i trust no one . These are most likely pirates or smugglers and
my opinion on dealing with them is known. They have there uses and advantages but trust isn't one of there most outstanding attributes.

Killing off the morodians seems feasible but is it necessary.

Killing all plants and equipment used to process the berries seems the most ideal of our options.

My Idea is to take a sizeable fleet there and first find out its affiliation.
upon this finding proceed to scout the planet for Yagaran aleudrupe plants and Destroy the fields . we may make contact with the Morodins and see if they have any intellect . then request all processing equipment be handed over to use .

I'm sure it wont be

then we can preform searches of the planet and make sure we have it all. forcefully if necessary.

Orders: Varonat

I am asigning, as mention, Captain Lash and Line Captain Katanor to execute this mission with all haste as soon as their meeting is completed over Bespin.

You are ordered to Take each of your command ships, plus one escort each, to this world.

If possible, land no troops. Communicate with the natives if neccessary via holo-projector rigged probe droids.

Outfit assault shuttles with the high powered scanners to hunt for the berries. If any are found, slag them and the area round them. Use high yield incindiary proton bombs.

Conduct research as well during this operation: if the slugs in any way can produce tibanna gas, eliminate them, sentient or not. Slag the entire planet and leave nothing alive that can be a threat to our monetary income.

Make sure this operation is kept secret. Deploy probe droids and combat action recon patrols. If anyone enters the system, namely a GNN prode droid, destroy it. Detain any one caught, and destroy their ships. Jamm all frequencies and communications, as well as sensors.

This must remain top secret until your small force is gone, and the surface of Varonat is waste.
