Hunched, sat upon a rock, Salem passed the hilt of his saber from one palm to another. His solid black eyes did not appear to move, though in actual fact they followed the design of the weapon as it passed across his vision, the markings reminding him of his former Master; Jeseth Cloak. It was time to test this blade out on another opponent, one perhaps nigh on as worthy as Cloak had been.

“Mind putting that thing to better use?”

Stepping into the training grounds, Grev eyed the Vampyre with little emotion. Before a reply could be said, the base of his own lightsabre was clutched tightly in his right palm. He had a pretty good idea that Salem was searching for a fight, so the small-talk would be cut. He too had an urge for combat, and the obscure apprentice seemed like one who could give a pleasing battle.

His body straightened out instantly to stand and he pushed Sooth into his left hand. Depressing the ignition switch, he sent the crimson beam cutting into the night air. He slid his right foot backwards partially to give himself a foothold, then brought the weapon up into a guard over his body.

"You arrre sss-eeded firrrssst move."

With a deft motion his own lightsabre was armed, the blade springing from the hilt with it's own rubicund hue. Allowing his right leg to slide back and his left to remain pointed forward, he brought the weapon to ear level; resembling the position of an "Ox Guard" of fencing.

It was his first move, something he was unsettled with but it wouldn't make that much of a difference. Without wasting too much time, he jolted his body forward, a crimson curtain flashing through the air as the blade jabbed towards the vampyre's upper torso.

Salem moved unsettlingly gracefully as he stepped into the attack, bringing his sabers blade upwards in a stiff vertical guard. The two beams clashed in a spray of sparks, with Salem pushing his whole weight into the bind - then sliding out sideways, flicking his blade back into the empty space where he had previously stood.

As predicted, the lock of sabers had caused Grev to push hard also, and thus the sudden absence of resistance caused him to move forward partially; at which point, Salem hooked the tip of Sooth upwards and drove the core at Drasen's waist.

Grimace spread across the face of Grev, as he manuevered his own lightsaber into a declining swing attempting to hinder the attack. As the two blades collided, a loud snapping was heard as the crimson pillars formed into an 'X' pattern.

Quickly picking up the pace, Grev pivoted into a turn. With his body propelling inward, he attemped to lodge a shoulder into the torso of Salem; while continuing to apply pressure down on the vampyre's blade with his own saber. Hoping to delay any type of recoil attack for the moment.

The apprentice was knocked backwards partially by the barge and withdrew Sooth in a sidewards swipe, using the momentum to butterfly-kick himself a short way from Grev. Looking back up, still in a crouch having landed from the manuever, the right hand corner of his lips turned vertical in a smirk.

He may have paused, but he wasted no time in continuing, taking long strides forward to reclaim the distance whilst attempting a force pull to bring in his opponent close. As he did so, he pushed up into a jump, one foot driving forward as he hooked his saber in a downward hack.

Shortly after the collision, he repositioned himself once again with his knees readily bent into a crouch, and a watchful eye following the display of celerity from the vampyre. A returned grin was pressed against his lips, though barely visible. With the blade of his weapon still activated, he held the cold hilt of the sabre in a death tight grip; awaiting the expected outburst from his counterpart.

Not soon after the vampyre was airborne, his body propelling at an inhuman rate - though considering he wasn't human it wouldn't be all that abnormal. It was almost premeditated, as Grev brought his own defense in full sail. Canted in an acute position, the blade successfully deflected it's ascending opposition. Sparks lit the dim arena, as Grev continued to apply force towards the vampyre, attempting to hold Salem's weight between the two colliding weapons.

After a session of push and shove between the two, Grev finally resorted into a quick spin; as his body rotated out of the mess bending his knees into a crouch. Falling back, his foot pivoted into an almost full turn. Crimson hued blade fully extended, aimed in a horizontal position to maim Salem's exposed leg from the knee down. An easy block for the skilled apprentice, but sudden for what it's worth.
