Perfect Name for Episode 3?

I think "Fall of the Republic" would be a fine title. But if it were up to me, I'm sure the word "Nosh" would be thrown in there :)

It seems like George is definetly drawing parallels between the trilogies, but what exactly are they returning to in Ep 3? Returning to dark times? Returning to a dictatorship? Or is it as simple as the full blown, official return of the Sith to the galaxy?

Hmmm, that actually makes A TON of sense.
1- Maul said that the Sith would have their revenge
2- Lucas wanted Return of the Jedi to be Revenge of the Jedi, but it made the Jedi sound cold blooded, so he changed it.
3- The Sith are due for some revenge, and stealing the Jedi's chosen one would be a terrific revenge.

Lucas says he likes to make things "rhyme" in the movies. "Fall of the Jedi" is the obvious choice because it goes with ROTJ, but I'll agree with all those who've said it'll be something unexpected.

I was thinking of Birth of the Empireas a possibility, but I think Revenge of the Sith is better -- it's in opposition to Return of the Jedi, it's negative, and it has overtones of B-movie sci-fi that Lucas loves to draw from.

It has to be something with four words...
Have a noun of importance (i.e. Jedi, Sith, Republic)...
Have a verb pertaining to said noun (i.e. Fall, Revenge)...

So...

Revenge Of The Sith and Fall Of The Republic would make sense.

Though knowing Lucas, he'll probably dumbfound us with a title we're soooooooooo not expecting, and yet, somehow, continue with the pattern. :rolleyes

I dunno, think about it - if we have "Revenge of the Sith" or "Fall of the Republic" it's a rather conclusive title and being honest, a rather obvious one because everyone knows the Republic falls and the Jedi are purged. It would be like calling Titanic "The Ship that Sinks" or something.

All other previous titles have had something about them that is misleading and not obvious.

All the other titles, don't give you the big picture as it were, they keep you thinking.

"Attack of the Clones" - yeah, The Clone Wars of course, but like has been debated earlier, it's not so much an attack as one would think, it's more of a defense for the New Republic.

"Return of the Jedi" does not tell us that Luke will be successful or anything, nothing is revealed.

Each title seems to be defined by something less obvious than expected and it isn't until the film is released that we really understand it's meaning (as with most films I guess).

What I'm trying to say is I think the title for Episode 3 will be inspired by something in the storyline that the fans have little or no knowledge of so that it keeps us thinking and makes things more interesting. I know that's what I'd prefer, otherwise if we get a title like "Revenge of the Sith" or "Fall of the Republic" we'll just think: "Yeah, of course." It'd be more interesting if Lucas threw a wild card in there.

I dunno Loki, "The Empire Strikes Back" seems like a pretty obvious title to me. After losing the death star, they would be hungry for some revenge and they basically have the rebels on the run for the entire movie.

Ep III - Shave of the Jedi

OK, knowing what we know about all of the titles so far... all of the titles focus on the events at the end of the movie...

a new hope stems from the hope at the end of the movie when the rebels have thier first victory.
empire strikes back stems from the end when Han is taken and Luke loses his hand and the rebels have to go into hiding
Return of the jedi stems from Darth Vader returning to the light side (and maybe from when luke realizes he was about to become his father and "returns" to the light).
Phantom menace stems from the last line of the movie "but which one was killed, the master or the apprentice?"
The attack of the clones stems from the end when the clones battle the trade federation.


So what happens at the end of Episode III?? Vader is made. empire is born. Twins are hidden...

I think the title will be based on the twins being hidden.

Previous attempts to properly predict the name of SW movies has all been in vain. He's going to come up with something nobody's thought of yet, but I tend to agree with JMC, Sith could be in the title somewhere, as could Empire (obviously).

I think
"Return" in Return of the Jedi is about Vader coming back to the light side of the force there for not sith but JEDI. and there is The Return of the Jedi.
