Should the Shipyard forums be removed entirely or selectively?

Most of them have had zero use in the last several months and removing them is probably best to eliminate clutter.

If it is decided that they be removed, should the threads be saved? If so we will need to decide where to put them. :)

Thanks for your time.

I say entirely since we're not even bothering to keep track of fleets and being nit-picking about how powerful a fleet is. Plus you're right in saying it will free up space.

I say aye! Give 'em the boot!

I have never ventured into the Ship Yards.....ummm......

I say Aye to removing them completely, unless we have one that everyone will use. :)

I echo Garrett's comments. I don't see the need to save any of the threads except the "Clean Slate" and related threads. These can be saved in OOC and I also think the points made in the Clean Slate should be summarised and turned into a FAQ.

If they have served their purpose, then remove them. I cant really think what would be in there that would need keeping, Vis might.

I agree with these sentiments myself, but feel that someone who was involved in the "Clean Slate" thread and who completely understands it would be best suited to write such a FAQ.

I had a little input into that thread. I wouldn't mind doing it tomorrow, although Charley is guilty of being the mastermind behind the whole thing; perhaps he'd like to do the FAQ. I'm easy either way - story of my life! :cry

Sure, get rid of it. It'll keep me from clicking the wrong GJO when I do a forum jump. I have no business there.

"Wipe them out. All of them."

(well.. maybe not all)

I don't RP.. so my feed back is probaly useless.. but there never seems to be much going on in the ship yards.. probaly best to just remove them.. or keep one for everyone to use. that way I don't click on wrong forums either :p

Some people have put an effort into things there. To delete them all is a bit unfair. WHy dont I go delete some of your RPs?

We want to delete the forums, that doesn't mean nuking the posts. We can move threads around n stuff here without fear of things exploding ^_^

I put some effort into stuff there too but now that I see it as invalid material then I understand that it is better to free up some space by getting rid of something that is no longer needed.

EDIT: I see how that could be taken as insulting and thus retract said sentence.

Morg, some ARE saying nuke the threads.

I think most if not all who put effort into that section of SWFans are intelligent enough to grasp that concept too.
Getting insulting doesn't win you arguments

I didn't intend for that to come off as insulting. :\

Well if you're going to delete the forums, please move the threads from the TGE section to the TGE board, Imperial Construction forum.

We could always keep the Omega Outpost, for random fleety info, etc

after all.....what of our Fleet R and Ds

Well your R and D was supposed to be kept at your own boards. These forums were for construction, when we went on a system that used construction.

Well I ... err, as Garm ... have a couple of RP threads in the NR board there (an RP of 1, but still). So I'd like em saved. But it's really not that big a deal for only a few posts.

TheHolo.Net

I will openly admit I am not a fan of topic deletion on any level really. I hate making things people have worked on vanish no matter the current relevance or lack of relevance. So I guess that leaves us with the task of figuring out where to move all the topics. So far Visc has made his wishes known clearly what about the other forums and topics? Where shall they be moved?

Sanis Prent
Aug 13th, 2002, 10:29:37 AM
I say we keep the Omega Outpost for all of that stuff. Shouldn't hurt to have a forum set aside for relevant fleet info, etc.

All of the threads in the group forums except TGE, which were moved according to request, have been labeled per group and moved to the Omega Outpost Conglomerate. The remaining empty shipyard forums have all been removed.

Omega Outpost Conglomerate now resides where the Shipyard forum was, as a sub-forum of the Storytelling forum.
