Do people still read? Anyway, not your favorite books of all time, just what you've read lately:

One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn (in the middle of it but I should finish it by Sunday)
Animal Farm by George Orwell
Traitor (SW EU novel)
The Two Towers by Tolkien
Enemy Lines II: Rebel Stand (SW EU novel)

Animal Farm and TTT were my favorite of that group. I've got the Truman biography by McCullough lined up and then I may go back to some Shakespeare. Something I read years ago like Macbeth or maybe I'll try something I never got around to reading like King Lear.

Really good - I highly recommend it... Kind of in the same vein as 1984 (one of my all time favorites.)

And I guess as far as favorites go, for me so far it would be:
Les Miserables - Hugo
Crime and Punishment - Dostoevsky
1984 - Orwell

All three are incredible books - check them out if you haven't already...

I read 1984 earlier this year. Thoes last 4 words are just amazing. I'm familiar with the themes 451 deals with which is why I'm looking forward to picking it up soon. I read Crime and Punishment a couple of years ago. It's really is an amazing novel. There's just tons of great Russian literature out there. Have you ever read Don Quixote? It's one of my favorite novels. I might try to read it in Spanish one day, but I don't know if I could handle it.

I can tell you five I'll be reading in the very near future...

The Gunslinger
The Drawing of the Three
The Waste Lands
Wizard and Glass
Wolves of the Calla

I absolutely love Stephen King's Dark Tower series - now that book five is due out next year, I'll start reading books 1-4 again for the fourth time so that by the time I'm done, book 5 (Wolves) will be here...

Don Quixote...ugh.

I was forced to read it, maybe that's why I did not enjoy it, having to read 10 chapters for every wednesday. I will pick it up someday. And the spanish is tough, even for spanish speaking people.

I really don't think I could handle the Spanish version. But the English version I read was an excellent translation. It's not light reading, but it was pretty good. I thought their exploits were just hilarious.

In between those 5 "adult" books, I've read a few young adult novels while on the job this summer. I squeezed in Wayside School Gets a Little Stranger, Wayside School is Falling Down, and There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom. All by Louis Sachar. They're very funny and great books to read out loud to kids.

Well, I do love the clearance bin at bookstores, and that's where most of my books come from.

Sadly, I often buy a new one and start it before finishing the last, so, these are the last five I've gotten mroe than halfway into.

1. The Art of War by Sun- Tzu
2. The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer
3. Bartlett's Familiar Quotations (Okay, so it's not really a novel, but I think it counts. It's frikkin huge...)
4. Usagi Yojimbo: Grasscutter II Drawn, inked, and written by Stan Sakai. No, it is not manga.
5. The Long Patrol by Brian Jacques

And I also have been pickign away at varios Rudyard Kipling stories, and trying to work through The Talisman by Sir Walter Scott, as well as a large book on Feudal Japan. Boy, do I ever finish books?
