Well, I am hosting the images on geocities... they're not especially fast. That and the fact that you need to wait for the first one to load before that one does.

Still, it's less than half the size of the original image, looks crisper in most areas and doesn't have any spelling errors. :)

Most Impressive.

But you are not a media tycoon yet!

Okay, well maybe you are - but I just wanted to finish changing the quote! (Not from the film - from my mates Darth Vader electronic piggy bank! :p)

I really like the newspaper article. Which reminds me - Hermes, I'll make my account and sig for my new character tonight.

I think this is sorta lame. What, you go breaking into threads with your probe droids, come up with some crap about it and post it in OOC? If we wanted to see what was happening in other threads, we'd go read them!

Gav Mortis
Aug 11th, 2002, 07:56:10 PM
GNN is actually an IC group but it works better to make press releases here in OOC as they aren't roleplays.

What, you go breaking into threads with your probe droids

I'd hardly call it "breaking in" if the threads are open.

come up with some crap about it

Crap? Depends on what your definition of crap would be I guess but let's just say this GNN "crap" will be around for quite some time and will influence nearly every group who roleplay here IC in the long run.

If we wanted to see what was happening in other threads, we'd go read them!

But if you think a thread looks boring then GNN gives a summary, with a link to the thread - which it will - and you find out it's quite a good plot then you wont miss out on some fun. Plus it helps advertise roleplays that have important or interesting plots to them which may affect others in some form or another and thus just like any media service is both influential and informative.

At the end of the day, you don't have to read the GNN press releases.

I believe it was in "On top of a waterfall" where Spearman says "And now for a healthy helping of scandal". That's what's meant by crap. You go in, see what's up and create a false story for it.

imported_Grev Drasen

Isn't that what the media is all about?

That's the idea. o_O

Zeke
Aug 11th, 2002, 08:09:24 PM
Then you're really not telling us what the thread is about. According the thing that started this thread, you're going to report the truth. If you go in and say something untrue about a thread, that's not the truth, and makes you liars and spreads a false idea on what's really going on.

Gav Mortis
Aug 11th, 2002, 08:13:24 PM
Think of it like this way. I am roleplaying through the articles, think of a GNN article as a character with bias and whatnot. Ultimately, GNN will be a tool for acquiring power and status but the articles will be 80% truth, some even 100% but what isn't true will only be a few carefully worded sentences to influence readers in an IC way, not OOC.

I like the idea.. since I don't rp, I dont check threads.. but I'd like to know what's going on, anyway. I used to bug Jeseth about it.. but he never comes here anymore so he doesn't know what's up. I NEED GNN :)
