View Full Version : Text of my Wedding Invitation

The following is the text of my wedding invitation:

He is soft-spoken
I am outgoing.
His passion is Star Wars
And I like to laugh.
He whispered, "Will you marry me."
I screamed, "Yes!"

Then the standard, "[We] (actually, our names) invite you to share in the joy of our marriage on Saturday the eighth of February two thousand three at ten-thirty in the morning."

I had to get Star Wars in there someplace!

I'm currently working on having her agree to let us enter the reception hall to the Imperial March.... :)

Don't tell me... You're gonna dress up as Darth Vader and she's gonna dress up like Princess Leia... And your groomsmen will be stormtroopers and her bridesmaids will be handmaidens... :lol

My wife read that Imperial March suggestion and said; "Oh my god..." That text sounds nice. I like the last two lines in particular. Just remember to get someone to take plenty of digital pics for us to enjoy. :D

The recessional at my high school graduation was the main theme for Star Wars. We turned out tassles to the 20th Century Fox buildup and then...the music! It was grrrreat. :)

Cute wedding invitations... *snifs* I need to go back to college and try to get my MRS degree.... :mischief

Good invitations...better than the standard ones I usually read. :)

Okay, my fiance has agreed to enter to Star Wars music, with the groomsmen and bridesmaids creating a bridge out of plastic lightsabers! Now . . . she thinks the Imperial March, however, is a bit dark and gloomy for our entrance.

So I ask, what is a good theme to enter into the reception hall to? Any suggestions?

Jedi Master Carr

I really like the invitations Doc :)
As far as music, that is difficult maybe Leia's theme, there could be something else though that would fit. I don't think you want The Duel of the Fates or The Imperial March neither probably wouldn't fit the moment, but that is just my opinion.

The love theme from Ep II

Infact, what I would do is have you enter with the Imperial March then her with the love theme. Kinda how the end of Ep II was like...where they show the Clone Army standing there...that's how I'd do it.

The music from the end of Ep. IV where Luke, Han and Chewie get their medals...

I always saw that more as a Graduation Ceremony not wedding music. But it's not a bad idea at all.

Or you could get your DJ or bandleader to sing Bill Murray's "Star Wars" song from Saturday Night Live, or the song Princess Leia sang from the Holiday Special... >_<

I read about a wedding where the guy was dressed up in Jedi Robes, taylored after Anikans in Ep II. She wore one of Padme's great dresses. The braidsmaids were dressed as handmaidens and groomsmen as jedi. That be a cool wedding to be at.

I didn't have SW in my actual wedding ceremony, but my Mother in law put together one of those montage videos of our lives for our rehearsal dinner. The opening of the video was the SW theme from ANH with a SW scroll with text about me and my wife, how we met, and what might the future bring....

Admiral Lebron

My Bar Mitzvah theme was Star Wars. We had these shirts with "May the force be with you" written in hebrew.

If I marry my current g/f, guess how much SW is going to be on my wedding...about 0 minutes...

She is one of those girls who has been planning her wedding since she was 5, think Monica on Friends, so guess how much decisions will I make...yep you guessed it...0.

ReaperFett

I want one of those fantastic dresses of Padme's.
I want to see more people in them :)

Me too Reaper...me too. Not to mention the Leia gold bikini. But we won't go there.

JediBoricua, looks like we're in the same boat. I think my gf had her wedding planned the day she was born. If I'm lucky, I'll get to decide on what color my tux is!

Update:

I convinced my fiance to let us be introduced into the reception hall to a SW theme. It can't be the Imperial March, though, she says it's too gloomy . . . so, I finally picked the perfect theme.

On the soundtrack to ANH, the piece is entitled "Throne Room [End Credits]" It's the theme that Han and Luke walk into the throne room to recieve their medals at the end of ANH!

JMK
Sep 27th, 2002, 06:52:24 AM
I can't believe she agreed to that! That is nothing short of remarkable! She must be great Doc! You're a lucky guy?

By the way, how'd you do it?

That is simply AWESOME!!! Sounds like its shaping up to be a fun wedding!

Jedieb
Sep 27th, 2002, 08:01:11 AM
That's a much better piece to be introduced under. The Imperial Theme has "Divorced after the birth of fraternal twins and mass slaughter of co-workers and takeover of the world as the second hand stooge of an aged Imperialistic evil wizard." Yep, the trone room is much more upbeat. So when exactly is the big date?

Doc Milo
Sep 27th, 2002, 01:11:25 PM
JMK: I just got lucky. When I asked her about that, she said, "of course, it's who you are, how can it be any different?"

Jedieb: February 8, 2003

And it should be fun, McBain. It had better be fun, with all the money I've spent that I don't really have! :)

I like the theme to ANH. With the trumpets at the beginning and the two of you walking in, that would be awesome!

I love the text on your invitations, Doc and I hope its the happiest day of your life! :) Good luck to you and your betrothed!

awwwww...its just so PERFECT sounding. Best of wishes and good luck, and :eek spending money you don't have!

I had a friend who's brother took out a 20,000 dollar loan to pay for his wedding. Talk about starting out on your new life in DEBT.. :x

Thanks for the well-wishes.

Yeah -- I figure that's what weddings are for: It's all a big plan to make sure that all newly married couples start off in debt...

But not to worry about me -- the Doc's got a plan....

Did I just refer to myself in the third person?

:rolleyes
