View Full Version : Adema...irony...and why chicks dig scars

adema: (noun) Medical term for subcutaneous swelling

Adema: (noun) A totally kickass band

irony: (noun) An expression or utterance marked by a deliberate contrast between apparent and intended meaning.

Tonight, I went to the Adema concert with a bunch of buddies. I'm not an avid fan, but I enjoy it enough to wanna go. So, me and a dozen buddies went downtown, and after half a dozen various imported beers, I was ready to rock. It was about the biggest mosh pit I've seen, and I've seen quite a few. For 4 hours, it wouldn't die...just kept attracting new lambs to the slaughter as others got tired, or just went to get more beer. I'm not much for moshing, because I'm a big guy, and most who do are imaciated, pasty guys who wear eyeliner, trenchcoats, and pierce themselves with kitchen utensils. But...I got the itch, and since there was a flock of bigger folk who were less likely to shatter upon impact, I gave it a whirl. Considering I had a few brews, it was a nice cardiovascular workout. So, for a few hours, we're jumping around, screaming, and smashing into each other with running head starts. Made me nostalgic for football. At any rate, the night went on, and finally, the pit sucked everyone into the void. It became a kind of blind, flailing melee bash. So, instead of running headlong into 1 or 2 guys, I was diving through maybe half a dozen in a pass. Bowling through, I felt something smack me in the head. Not thinking anything of it, I made my way back to my side of the pit, when I felt liquid pouring down my face. I was sweaty as all getout, so I figured that I just was drippin from my hair. Rubbing the side of my face to get rid of the moisture, I looked down, and my hand was covered in red, as well as part of my shirt. I was a bit worried about the poor bastard that I had smashed into, because he was now apparently bleeding on me. Except that I looked at the small group that had flocked around me with horrified looks on their faces. Nevermind...I was the one that was bleeding. Shrugging, I went to the bar, and the bartender got me a towel. I cleaned off my face, then went into the restroom. Sure enough, over my left eye, there was a nice long slice, wide and deep...leaking blood like a garden hose. So, I kept an icepack and rag on it, as my buddy took me to the ER. Doc put 4 stitches in, and I was off again. The downside...I missed the end of the concert...and bloodied up a good shirt. But now...I've got a rather badass looking laceration, which should form into a scar with a good story behind it...which I will tell to many, and exaggerate on often.

Fun for me :)

LOL @ Zeke...hadn't thought of that. The thing's over my left eye, not my right, is smaller, and more horizontal than vertical...but still...LOL

Its more like a boxer's laceration...nothing from being cut, but from blunt-force contact, and pressing against that part of the skull. Therefore, its quite swollen, and will get nice and blue. It looks like something out of a Rocky movie :)

Oh my God...you poor deprived girl.

Rocky movies are wonderful, sacred chalices of inspiration. The Rocky soundtrack is medically proven to heighten adrenaline, and eliminate bodily pain, as well as enhance physical performance. This is not a lie. I can bench press 10 or so pounds over my usual max if I listen to it. I can run harder, longer, and faster...and not feel the lactic buildup in my legs, burning my veins like battery acid.

Repeated religious viewing of Rocky movies will compel you to do excessive, brutal, and daunting acts of physical prowess. If you can watch it, and not feel like climbing a mountain, or tearing a horse apart with your teeth, then you have no pulse.

Jul 30th, 2002, 12:21:53 AM
Yes. We drank red bull & listened to Eye of the Tiger before Lax games...sure we lost most of them but we did win one or two! ;)

My mom took my blood pressure once, then asked why I wasn't dead.

Apparently my blood pressure is super low, and my pulse is non-existent.

So you see, if I was any more laid back, I'd be dead.

Naw, I'll prolly end up watching it.

Unless I miss my guess, when ep 3 rolls around, you'll tie me to a chair in the hotel room and tape my eyes open in front of the tv; a stack of the Rocky movies sittin' next to me.

Apparently my blood pressure is super low, and my pulse is non-existent.Likewise. I can't count the times where a doctor has pronounced me dead. :) Even given that I now have heart damage, I'm still low on both.

I'll get inside you!

The way you like it!

:)

Sounds like you had an awesome time, minus the wound of course. Adema owns, and I would gladly go to one of their concerts and mosh, and get bashed!

Actually, if you want a scar, just get a finger removed. Leaves a rather large and long lasting one on your hand.

I bet that sounds weird to people.

anyways.

I swear! What is it with left eyes?! I tell ya it's a conspiracy!!!

First story:
When I was younger, I was horsing around (litterally), running around on all fours. Well, I miscalculated the distance between couch and coffee table corner and WHAM! I gouged the skin above my left eyebrow with the corner of the coffee table. Needless to say, it huuuuurt. But, the scar is basically invisible (as I do not scar easily), and it moved from above my eyebrow to under it as I grew. So now I am virtually scarless... to some degree.

Second story:
When my sis was younger, we were outside playing in the backyard, and my friend (who was over for the day) and I noticed something cool under the deck (forgot what it was). Anyways, we were making a big fuss and stink about it and my sis wanted to see what all the ooo's and aaahh's were about. So, she hurried to our position, miscalculating her balance among metal lawn furniture and SMASH! she head-butted a lawn chair on it's edge above her left eye. Needless to say, it huuuurt her, and now she has an almost invisible scar (cept her's was a bit higher than mine, and thus didn't move below her eyebrow).

Third story:
Dunno. Ask Charley. he got cut above his left eye before the Adema concert.

Fourth story:
*See post by Charley at beginning of this thread.

Hell, I'm telling ya, its all a concpriacy! I know there are others out there that have gotten slashed above their left eye. Come on... let's hear the stories!

Loki Ahmrah

Charley, I'm so proud! :)

The scar down my right arm looks cool but the massive scar on my lower abdomen is huge and it still has the marks from the stiches dotted to either side of the bloody thing. It looks dreadful, I hope they go away.

Sanis Prent
Jul 30th, 2002, 12:38:20 PM
The third was when I was 4 years old, and happened in a very competitive game of musical chairs :)

Loki, don't wish away scars...if they don't have a good story, just make one up to fit :) They're like tattoos that you don't have to pay for :)

I don't have any scares on my face. :( I have about 15 on my hands, 3 huge ones on my right leg. One big one I got from a kite on right arm. 3 on my arms. One on my side from a pencil. That's about it. . .

I have various scars on my hands and arms from football, scars on each of my big toes from ingrown toenail removal, a 6 inch scar across my back from a game of ultimate frisbee, and a big scar on my left knee, from smashing my knee against the side of my friend's pool .

well, i got a bunch of minor ones around my hand/arm area, but I was a little explorer when I was a kid. And we had a huge amount of woods where I used to live, so I would cut myself badly an awful lot, lol

of course theres also one MAJOR scar on the arm that ive discused before

Oh great eye cutting story 'bout me.

Anyone ever play a game in Elementary School where you run underneath a parachute and if it falls on you then you're out? Yes? No? Okay who cares.

So I'm playing that game one day and the quesiton was, "Do you have a cat." Well genious I am I decided that I was gonna wait for everyone who had a cat to run so I wouldn't hit anyway.

Well a friend of mine at the time had the same idea. We were both wearing glasses. We collided...He went down...I went uncouncious...13 stitches right above the right eye...oh yeah. :D

I got more if ya wanna hear 'em :D

nice scar sanis

I have allot of small scars that came from small cut but my bast scar with the best story has to be my three inch scar on my pinky finger.

It involved a blind old man cutting wood with a chain saw for his wood burning stove. Me holding the wood for him so it would stay stationairy to finish the cutting of it. I went to grab a new piece of would for him to cut he and my hand ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time. ended up with a nice scar from the chain saw but I didn't lose the finger I didn't even get stitches because the cut was to wide for them.

also want to make the point its hard driving a stick shift pick up one handed when your trying not to bleed all over.

I've got 7 or 8 scars on my arm, two on my kneecap and one faint one across my chest..

The arm one was kinda half and half, 1/2 of it was swordfighting with katanas.. repeatively... leaving that one arm open... alot of times...

The other was from falling off a dirt bike down into a 7 ft drop ditch and hitting a broken peice of concrete.. that one hurt..

Kneecaps - Me being a idiot at 5 and running to get a frizbee, tripping over a cindeblock and busing the hell out of it......

The Chester is due to a thin dowel with a sharpened edge repeatively beaten over my chest during a ... 'bully' incedent..

He faired much worse I say..
