It was becoming well known to those around him, and to himself also. Zasz wanted more power, and not just a small amount. He wanted more power in the force, and he wanted to know more about the dark arts.
His former master, Jeseth Cloak promoted him, knowing that Zasz was ready, but regardless, he wanted more. Zasz was indeed ready for the promotion, but he felt that he needed more, and now with Jeseth's condition worsening, it may be better to take on another master.
Hobgoblin seemed to be the most likely choice for a master. He seemed to have recently grown in power, but not only that, Zasz needed a driving force right now. The hand represented that driving force, and Hob was reviving it.
"Hobgoblin, I request your presence."
...And something else he had heard around Bast Castle, or rather felt. It was his former companion. Anger flushed over him momentarily, he would speak with Hob about this also....
