the USA people will all begin to wake up and annoy us

Why are we always referred to as "The USA people"?! The germans called us that when they talked to us!:

.......This time the U.S.A. forces in and near Bastogne have been encircled by strong German armored units.......There is only one possibility to save the encircled U.S.A. troops from total annihilation....If this proposal should be rejected one German Artillery Corps and six heavy A. A. Battalions are ready to annihilate the U.S.A. troops in and near Bastogne.

We're frikkin Americans!

ReaperFett
Jul 19th, 2002, 08:46:44 AM

Khan Surak
Jul 19th, 2002, 08:49:43 AM

I remember a part in a Clancy book.. there were these two destroyers, an American one called the "Reuben James" and a Brit one called "Battleax".

The British capt. sent a message that said,"I didn't know the Americans named their ships after sandwiches."

The American capt. sent one back that said,"I didn't know the Brits named their ships after their mothers."

:D

I guess I answer to most of those..."americans", the "USA people", "yanks" and even "Damn Yankee". Doesnt bother me. But as far as the UK/Aussie contingency taking over...not gonna happen. Youre just not big enough! ;) :p :D

Khendon Sevon
Jul 19th, 2002, 01:08:33 PM
the odd thing is...

American fits, right? But mexicans can call themselves American, right? 'Cause they're central American, while we're north American... So, the south Americans can call themselves American... and (RUN TO THE HILLS) the Canadians can call themselves American (isn't that a sin? erp, wait, I'm half-Canadian)

Okay, now, if you're still following, good & plenties taste really good.

Then why do the Americans drink what's inside the cans????

Mr Wednesdaydale
Jul 20th, 2002, 01:55:16 AM
Why don't you ask the ones that DO drink it?

You know...there's Nerve Gas and Brittney Spears CDs in America as well, and I'm a conoisseur of neither of those.

Marcus Telcontar
Jul 20th, 2002, 01:59:27 AM
That makes you a good deal smarter than the average teeny bopper then

Mr Wednesdaydale
Jul 20th, 2002, 02:09:44 AM
And I'd say you're a fair sight more dependant on our aluminum cans than we are on your rice-urine :)

Marcus Telcontar
Jul 20th, 2002, 02:13:13 AM
Could have fooled us.

Mr Wednesdaydale
Jul 20th, 2002, 02:27:22 AM
Well, I guess in perspective...I can see why. Would be interesting to see the export cost percentage of Fosters vs Aluminum cans made in america. Then to show the raw net export totals, side by side.

So in Aussie terms, it would seem significant.

Marcus Telcontar
Jul 20th, 2002, 02:44:31 AM
Actually, that is where your assuptions are quite wrong. Australia is a net exporter of Aluminium alloys and ore. Most of that of course goes to Japan and if I understand right, most of the USA's cans for Fosters are made in Canada. All our cans are made in Melbourne

Daiquiri Van-Derveld
Jul 20th, 2002, 08:02:13 AM
YEAH!!! Melbourne! Melbourne, Florida! :angel

he said Canada!

*tromps around with a minature Canadian Flag whilst humming "Oh Canada"*

I just relized something, there aren't that many Canadians here are there?

Taataani Meorrrei
Jul 20th, 2002, 12:25:45 PM
Bout as many canucks here as there are brits

ReaperFett
Jul 20th, 2002, 01:21:05 PM
Well, if we look at the countries listings:

United States 1769252 82.86 %
United Kingdom 171517 8.03 %
Australia 97615 4.57 %
Canada 84632 3.96 %

So, that either means there's far less Canadians, or the British come here A LOT more :)

Sanis Prent
Jul 20th, 2002, 02:07:29 PM
Well...what portion of those are sock accounts. If you did a sock adjustment, it should adjust appropriately. There are some right schizo's out there (DT, Vega, Me, etc)

ReaperFett
Jul 20th, 2002, 02:12:59 PM
And one of the Canadians was Ferris, who had a great many accounts. And I dont think its ACCOUNTS, I think it is views or something.

Severen Morkonis
Jul 20th, 2002, 04:13:36 PM
I have 4 now :-S

Marcus Telcontar
Jul 20th, 2002, 06:54:23 PM

Jul 20th, 2002, 06:58:38 PM
Dont think so

Marcus Telcontar
Jul 20th, 2002, 07:07:30 PM
Hmmm.... yeah, could be page views, that may be possible.

ReaperFett
Jul 20th, 2002, 07:15:28 PM
Which would explain why there's 10 from Bahrain :)

Marcus Telcontar
Jul 20th, 2002, 07:24:50 PM
Bahrain???

WTF?

That would have to be a Netblock mistake

ReaperFett
Jul 20th, 2002, 07:29:41 PM
No, it would be someone on the Internet in Bahrain finding the board :)

Marcus Telcontar
Jul 20th, 2002, 07:34:39 PM
Which is unlikely I would have thought. Netblocks BTW are a set of IP addresses that are allocated to specific countries, which is how you do know where a IP address is in a general area. I would have thought the netblock for Bahrain would be a) small and b) highly unlikely to be used.

ReaperFett
Jul 20th, 2002, 07:45:34 PM
Why? Bahrain is very built up

imported_Lance Stormrider
Jul 20th, 2002, 08:21:30 PM
*follows Hoshi* From what I've seen there aren't many Canadiens around.

Marcus Telcontar
Jul 20th, 2002, 08:31:31 PM
Why? Bahrain is very built up

I'm not saying it's not right, I was just saying it was unlikely. Plus, I think (and dont quote me on this) Internet access is heavily proxied and controlled, just like it is in China or any number of Islamic nations with a high degree of religious influence. Now, I dont think it's too fundamentalist, but I dont think Star Wars or the Internet really rank as a past time there.

ReaperFett
Jul 20th, 2002, 08:40:00 PM
There would be a fair amount of Internet usage still though IMO, because of the sheer number of business trips that go there, plus the big race course.

Marcus Telcontar
Jul 20th, 2002, 08:49:12 PM
That's entirely possible, athough to me unlikely to be coming here. It just seems to me that to be coming here would be really unlikely from there

ReaperFett
