Green tea is better for you.

Marcus Telcontar

For the reasons in the article?

That, and Green Tea fights cancer, has more caffeine, reduces the risk of heart disease, etc

Coffee gives me diarrhea. I don't think my system can handle it, and decides to deport it immediately.

gah; I'm so tired of hearing about Starbucks.

I swear to you all, there's both a Starbucks and a Tully's on every damn block, and then on every other one, we've got a Seattle's Best Coffee.

Seattle shouldn't be called the Emerald City, it should be called the Spawning Grounds of Microsoft and Starbucks.

Marcus Telcontar

As Helenias thinks she is a true coffee critic, she wont go near a StarBucks - she much prefers nameless cafes with weirdos in black, with real coffee from Brazil or Jamacia, with all sorts of weird flavours. She loves somethign called Mochachino. What the frell is that???

ReaperFett

Depends on the tea. Some tea (like chinese ones) taste really weird with sugar and are best off drunk as a brew only. Herbal teas are like this.

ReaperFett
Jul 16th, 2002, 05:31:34 PM
sugar is a must for me :)

Morgan Evanar
Jul 16th, 2002, 05:50:18 PM
Mocachino is eggselent. Miami has good coffee, despite the other things about it that are craptactular.

Jul 16th, 2002, 09:44:29 PM
yummmm mocachino..........

I can't believe theres only one starbucks on okinawa! *cries*

Fortunately the people here are obsessed with coffee and tea so its not too bad. Coffee needs both cream and sugar but tea is good just the way it is. yummm......

*goes and gets some green tea*

Right now, iced cappacinos and iced tea are fine in southern California. Iced tea is a great means of hydrating myself, the weather here has been consistantly over 100F. Waaaaay too hot for coffee! I am sucking down alot of ice tea, water, and energy drinks these days... wheeeeewwww!

I heared it was really hot back home??? Hows the humidity level? Here its been in the mid 80's to mid 90's but the humidity makes it feel like 110. yuck!

Iced tea and iced coffee are a staple here too. There are vending machines everywhere!!! I mean like ever 10 feet and Im not exagerating. Even in the middle of nowhere theres a vending machine. And I understand why too.....hydration is very important.

Gabran Darkysa
Jul 16th, 2002, 10:59:40 PM
We had a couple of days where the humidity felt like a 110%, no kidding. I thought we were in Florida and the air was very muggy and thick. Nights were even muggier. At my apartment the A/C freezes up occassionally, so I have suffered a few times. However the humidity seems to be dropping during the daytime.

Oh yeah, remember soda is a terrible way to re-hydrate with all the caffeine and it's diluted carbonated water.

Live Wire
Jul 16th, 2002, 11:08:36 PM
lol yeah I've only had two soda's the whole time Im here. Vending machines here are mostly iced coffe, iced tea, juices and a couple sodas most likely pepsi. lol! oh and of course water. Its not like at home where vending machines are all various soda's.

yuck Im gonna leave humidity just to come home to humidity. oh well maybe I'll be used to it by then. A/C going out is not good. make sure you have a fan handy.

Gabran Darkysa
Jul 16th, 2002, 11:13:35 PM
Yeah, cold showers, three fans, and cool sheets seems to have alleviated these A/C problems when they occur. ;)

Jul 16th, 2002, 11:16:37 PM

Ive always heard that anything with caffiene in it is a de-hydrator. We have always drank iced tea at my house, even when growing up. I rarely drink coffee though but when I do it has to have a lot of cream and sugar.

But the best, imvho, is still Nestle's Quik. I started drinking it when I was around 8 and havent stopped. Its my morning pick-me-up and more than likely will be until the day I die. And I still drink it with a spoon ....nothing better! :)

New research shows that healthy elderly people, with no signs of the brain disease, had consumed an average of three to four cups a day since the age of 25.

However, those with the debilitating illness drank, on average, just one cup of coffee each day.

THANKS MARCUS!

I have reason to up my dosage again!!!

Gloria Jean coffee I could understand. That is halk drinkable and comes in some quite amazing flavors

But Starbucks?

Your surely not talking about the woeful dishwater place that is just around the corner from me at work, that no one in their right mind goes to? Man, I hope it's a damn sight better in the USA, cause here it's awful :x

Sanis Prent

I use it to wake me up on Sunday mornings so I can go out to the Walmart Toy Department and get some work done.

Coffee is what I drink in the mornings, two cups and lots of cream and sugar. My dad complained about the amount of sugar I use in coffee to my DH. Didn't do any good, DH uses more sugar than me. Cafe con leche is great. I have to make my own here, no fancy, smancy coffee cafes here. Use it sparingly and only when necessary; like when I have to clean the entire house for instance.
Being that I am from the true south, it is "sweet tea" for the rest of the day. Sweet tea is an art form here. A southern lady must learn early on how to prepare it if she wants to have any chance of gaining a husband. Tea is easier on the kidneys than soda and considering I drink about a gallon of it a day, my kidneys should be overjoyed.
That said, I have a new addiction - a little bottled concoction called "Mr. Green". I tastes like a blend of root beer and dr. pepper and has a healthy dose of ginseng in it. I actually feel half alive when I drink a coupla bottles of it.

Sean Piett
Jul 25th, 2002, 03:15:00 PM
Coffee I love. A cup or two every day.

Cappuchino is good too. I make sure to have a cup thrice a week.

Mr. Green is great!

Marcus Telcontar

I dont get my wife sometimes. Her priority when looking for a job was that the place must be close to where she can get a good coffee. she thence spent more time telling me about the coffee at this little cafe in the city, then mentioned as an afterthought she got the job. Like, wouldnt you be more excited about a 10 grand pay jump?

Wytchy Woman
Jul 25th, 2002, 05:58:32 PM
Finally, something someone agrees with me on! The only problem here is that I can only get Mr. Green in the 20 ounce bottles. I wonder if it will ever be available in 2 liters? Carrying a bunch of the little bottles home is a hassle.

Wytchy Woman
Jul 25th, 2002, 06:01:39 PM
Speaking of southern fare, has anyone here ever tasted a potato jack? It is a southern specialty that we didn't have when I lived in the mountains. I had like my 3rd one today. They are out of this world! Getting the recipe tomorrow, gonna experiment with making it with my own special touches. Then I will cyber bake y'all some.

Sean Piett
Jul 25th, 2002, 06:57:47 PM
Only in 20 oz bottles here too. Sobe never did do cans or 2 liters for their other drinks, so I dunno about Mr. Green..

Wytchy Woman
Jul 25th, 2002, 08:34:51 PM
but Sobe does have one of those small, super-caffeinated (or something that gives you lots of pep) available here in a can. They are always in those real small cans - the super energy drinks I mean. I detest anything to drink coming in a can. Prefer the plastic, even better the glass bottles. Am I dating myself by reminiscing about sodas in bottles?

Sean Piett
Jul 25th, 2002, 08:51:45 PM
Oh! Never seen it. Only Red Bull and Amped up here.

Am I dating myself by reminiscing about sodas in bottles?

If you were in Sydney, it would be the other way around. It's becoming harder to get drinks in a can, which personally much prefer.
