View Full Version : I should have been born a poor black child, instead of a middle-class white one.

Because nobody buys barbecue from middle-class white guys, and I could truly sell this stuff for big bucks! :cry

Oh well...

Just give yourself a blackish name when selling and put the picture of a black man on the container?

Get a black friend and have him do the work for you.

Just pay him.

People see a southern guy making a black man cook for him, they may raise an eyebrow

Tianje Xhu
Jul 4th, 2002, 10:35:35 PM
black ppl are really into food "soul food". and theyre good at cooking bbq. what prent is saying is that if he were black, he could sell his bbq for money, its that good. but ppl would take one look at his lily white and drive off laughing. if he were black, his food would sell. hes white and it wont. simple if youre from the states.

So true, Chance...so very true.

Ever had Jacks? Or Mrs Winners? They are nice as well :)

The best place I ever went to that served fried chicken is up in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Its called the Apple Barn. Wonderful food...I'd recommend it to anyone.

Besides, I disagree with you Sanis, Colonel Sanders seems to have done well for himself. :)

Colonel Sanders stole his recipe from the black man! How else do you explain such a dapper Confederate Gentry coming up with a recipe like that?

You actually have a grocery store AND a movie theater in your town? :eek We only have a grocery store and it's an IGA, not even a dag burn Piggly Wiggly! The main street in town is called - what else? - Main Street. The road we live on is named for my husband's paternal grandfather who was known for having the best ox team in town - no lie. :D

And I only go to KFC's because I'm addicted to Honey BBQ Chicken Wings.... Mmmn... ^^

And here I was thinking I was living in a place caught in a time warp - one of the taxi's is horse drawn and the bar's have hitching posts. It's scary to think Windsor is on the edge of Sydney and has some of the oldest still occupied buildings in Australia, and has horse drawn carriges plying their trades - still.

Miami restaurants are great! I don't remember it having a sucktastic qualities when I was younger. I thought it was pretty cool, still do. The things I miss about Miami the most: the cuban food, the planetarium, metro zoo, the everglades (although technically that's not miami), my friends, and my son - not necessarily in that order!
Maybe you and Shawn could get together and fed ex me some roast pork, black beans & rice, fried plantains, and some cafe con leche - preferably from Lila's Restaurant (are they still in business?). Morgan, please tell me you weren't as unlucky as Shawn and were forced to attend Southwest High?! SW drools, Coral Park rules!

.. has vegetarianism died out altogether in the States? :/

And if you're on about time warps .. I live in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Where you're a member of the female species, you will undoubtedly at some point get either touched up or commented at by the low-class people on the streets. Not that a woman can go out in public alone anyway.

Rain? England?!! :: gasp :: You don"t say!! Heh .. been down London recently? If you do, let me know and I'll link you up with some of my buddies there. ^_^ 6:20? Ah yes, DST .. my watch is still on UK time. ^^;

In Thailand, the cheapest and fastest food comes from those littles street-side stalls. Not the most hygienic, but it's very yummy. ^_^

In Dhaka .. fast food = chotputi + phuska (a cookie to anyone who knows what that is)

SPECIFICALLY, I lived on the fourth house (detached) from the street separating Edgware from Kingsbury. My bedroom was the one overlooking the garden, the one that had a weird balcony-type thing that you could only get to by climbing out the window.

Now.

APART from my roof, where did you live? :P
