Oh hush you. You know what I meant. :p

I think ony Supermods can.

Errr.... odnt you have supermod? Maybe I'm on acid and my memory faied me

You should have been able to delete the entire thread AB.

The mods here are only "Supermods" by Mark's claim because of all the hacks addedd to their abilities, but in technical terms per this vB board, they are just forum mods, not what vBulletin has termed supermoderators, but the powers that forum mods have here are very much on par and in many areas do rival that of your typical vBulletin supermod. :)

BTW: To delete a thread you edit the first post and then check the box to delete the post, then click the "Delete Now" button. The process of deleting the entire thread can sometimes take as long as 30 seconds maybe a little more to complete, as there are several DB queries and such performed along with the process to remove its entry from a few different tables in the database, including the various DB entries for each susequent post in the thread.

That's what I did do, Ogies (under my AB name). But it said I didn't have access to do that. :\

Lemme try again...

Nope, still says I don't have permission to do deletions.

Hmmm... lemme try with my LV name just for the hell of it...

Nope. LV doesn't even have access to edit. Guh... |I

Well, Ogies, you can go ahead and delete this thread as it is pointless. But I still can't do the deletion with my AB account. :\

Weird. O_o

Goes to test things with a forum mod account of his own.

Marcus Telcontar

I think I know. It's a order of permissions problem. I bet Mods cant delete threads other mods have made. I'm fairly certain I've nuked my own thread once and also that fo a regular poster.

Could be Marcus. *shrugs*

I can't delete this either :(

TheHolo.Net
Jun 28th, 2002, 08:33:15 PM
It wouldn't let me delete my own thread as a forum mod in my test, but I didn't try deleting one made by a regular poster. Thats what I should test next.

Marcus Telcontar

Anything changed lately? New patch or similar?

TheHolo.Net
Jun 28th, 2002, 08:40:48 PM
Test failed. A forum mod couldn't delete the entire thread a regular poster made in my test either. Can a forum mod delete a single post in a thread?

It wasn't that long ago that the upgrade from 2.2.5 to 2.2.6 was applied, but it didn't do anything for mod permissions.

Okay, at least that works as it is supposed to.

TheHolo.Net
Jun 28th, 2002, 08:59:13 PM
Hmmm, considering that forum mods have the ability to edit the first post in a thread, close a thread, or even move a thread to a private forum, I don’t think the ability to delete an entire thread is really absolutely necessary, though I could create another usergroup that would allow some mods the ability. The only problem with that is that ability would work everywhere, board wide, not just in the forums that moderator is assigned to. :\

Marcus Telcontar

Dont worry about it then. We can work around it.

TheHolo.Net
Jun 28th, 2002, 09:01:32 PM
We could use the Group Mod Staff forum as a trash can forum where threads to be deleted could be moved and then deleted later.

TheHolo.Net
Jun 28th, 2002, 09:03:01 PM
I do intend to look into this further at the vB support boards anyhow though. :)

Marcus Telcontar
Jun 28th, 2002, 09:04:03 PM
Well, we have the Admin forum here that we can toss unwanted threads. Might pay to let other mods know this condition exists

TheHolo.Net
Jun 28th, 2002, 09:08:42 PM
Yeah, unless I can find a way to fix the source code so that it doesn't, yet not create any otrher bugs. hehe

AmazonBabe

Ok, so it wasn't just my account. Oddness. And here I started freaking out that someone had done something. O_o

Ok, well, this thread can be moved to a "ready to delete" area if you wish.

Or not. You can just fill it with pointless trash. :lol
