I believe so, though I may incorrect... through budding (right?), an asexual reproduction, mold may form and consume, and reproduce until it eventually consumes the entire object...

this is general for food.

But what do I know, honors biology didn't teach me much besides how to study the day before a test and pray your teacher falls ill.

No, cheese doesn't mold. Well, it does, kinda. But not like bread. If you leave bread out it will go moldy and turn into a mucky liquid. Cheese won't, it only grows on the surface, and can be cut away. It's the variety of mold and it's staying capacity.

Keep the cheese in the fridge and it will last forever.

Yes, cheese molds. And don't EVER do as Anhk said and just cut off the part with visible mold. Just because it's only formed enough to be seen in one area doesn't mean the entire piece isn't molded.

If it's a fair sized block and the mold is only on one side, then you can cut it in half and eat the other half, it should be fine. But if it's closer to the center, just toss the whole thing out.
