I'll start with some bands you almost certainly have no idea who they are:
Engine Down
Denali
Pinback
Pop Will Eat Itself

Lesser known but excellent, possibly heard without knowing:
Massive Attack
Kula Shaker (1st CD only)
Portishead
Modest Mouse
Kidney Thieves
Ozric Tentacles

Some weird crazy stuff you may or may not like:
Mindless Self Indulgence

Really Heavy:
Systematic

Know of Massive Attack and Kula Shaker. My fave, lesser known band at the moment is The Cooper Temple Clause.

You know of those two because they've a solid following overseas, but are relatively unknown in America.

Wierd that. Kula Shaker especially were huge over here at one time. Still play songs by Kula Shaker in a club I go to.

Modest Mouse
Surely that's a failed superhero? :)

Masssive Attack I've definantly heard before and Pop will eta itself. Portishead definantly as well.

Anything is better than Shakira. Nova 96.9 plays some good stuff, but it also plays some utter crap like that. They di weird stuff like play Tool.... and follow it with Britney Spears.

Oh come on, some of Shakira's lyrics are classic :)

Besides Marcus, could be worse. I hear Rindstone Cowboy by Blown Out got to number 42. Thats a near novelty group over here, thanks to one Radio Station. Someone bought it for no reason in AUS :)

Bah! Popular music's not all that bad, Shakira's great! :)

"Work it a little
Get hot just a little
Meet me in the middle
Let go...just a little bit more."

I love that song. I'm such a teeny bopper when I want to be. :)

Can't get better than Mongo Jerry, I say.

I've heard of Massive Attack, but that's pretty much it from that list.

Shakira is CRAP!! CRAP!!! How can you possibly even consider listening to it???

Helen is presently been kicked out of the bedroom and sleeping on the couch for singing one of her songs x_x

I've heard:

Denali
Pinback
Pop Will Eat Itself
Massive Attack
Kula Shaker (1st CD only)
Portishead

Don't particuarly like any of them. (Kula's Tattva was okay, nothing more, and Portishead is decent)

The whole point of this thread was to state "hey, so and so, they're pretty good."

I'm not going to hunt for things. I have something else to say but I'm not going to start an arguement
