Sanis is going to genetically fuse his pet ysalimir:

The splice goes somewhat awry...and while the creature retains the ysalimir's prized ability (but at a 3 meter radius instead of 5)...the desired sentience is a bit too much to handle. The creature's temperamental, and instead of being forced to live on a nutrient cage, it requires huge amounts of peanut butter and grain alcohol, further complicating its care.
